Quick question: Does a 400v (97s) battery require a 400v compatible motor or inverter?

Backstory:
Exactly 1 year ago a drunk driver smashed the front on my 2013 500e. After I was walking again, I dropped the HV battery, motor/trans, inverter, charger, and other misc cabling. I want to do an ICE-EV conversion but unsure which parts should be reused. The motor/trans should be the easiest to mount/use, but I'm guessing getting the inverter/charger would be unusable due to the control signalling. AFAIK only Evolving World on youtube has experimented with the fiat powertrain.
If I can't fit the full 97s batteries (~400v dc), would an aftermarket inverter or controller made for lower voltage allow the motor run properly? (ie https://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/dilithium-vcu.html)
