So I know the QS 180 is a newer motor but wondering if anyone on here has used it?

For the QS138 what’s the maximum peak power without overheating? I’ve heard you can peak this motor at 20kW but wondering if it could take more power for short periods?

Will be converting a Suzuki Rmz250. The QS 180 is looking real nice but it’s expensive, as well with controller to power that monster 8)

Very very nice,
I read that suzuki factory forks rock too.

Can you please weigh the bare frame with the swing arm as is now.

I did some peeking around at 138 #s. 180 #s are pretty much non-existent.
From the #s of other motors people are running I would estimate 3x the rated power?
like 24kw or more?

In my rmz 250 I used the 138 90h with a bac8000 maxed out at 32kw.
Now I am building a crf450 using the QS 180 90h with a fardriver 961800. The goal is to have 45kw +

Thanks! Yeah really excited for this project.
Yes I will weigh the frame and swingarm. The rear suspension feels pretty heavy. Purchased the fork tubes today, “SHOWA”.

But yeah I’ll start a build thread for this bike. Trying to do my homework to figure out which motor but probably going with that QS180. Need to look at the Golden motors as well. First priority is to get this to a rolling chassis, already purchased all new bearings - swingarm, head tube, upper suspension etc. from allballsracing.com.

Yeah I found a couple videos on YouTube for the QS180 but wasn’t in English. I believe that motor came out this year or maybe late last year so there’s not a lot of info out there. I normally don’t like buying the first generation of anything in case there’s something that needs to be worked out in the engineering. That’s why I’m trying to find some real life feedback for that motor before purchasing.

There seems to be a good amount of information for the QS138 dating back for several years. Seems like a great motor for more of a pit bike set up but maybe not a full size 250 or 450cc frame because of the weight.

This bike RMZ 250 from factory has around 40-ish hp so I would like to surpass that, I’m not sure if that’s possible with the QS138 without overheating or worrying about temps.

Great thanks for the feedback! How is/was the temperature with the QS138 with 32 kW? Do you have a build thread or any pictures?

Yeah 45 kW sounds real nice! I’m aiming for somewhere in that ballpark, would like 50+ horsepower. Been looking at the fardrivers as well. Maybe the Fardriver ND721200.

Oh and how did the power fell at 32 kW compared to the factory set up with the combustion motor? I’m sure off the line in felt ridiculous but also wondering how the mid range acceleration is at 32KW?
Not sure if you used a gear reduction or not..

This is my build thread. On the power side it was slower than a 250cc. Felt like a 125 2 stroke.

OK thank you, very useful information! I’ll stick with the QS180.

Will follow your new build thread. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=115368&p=1710648#top
Interested to see how you do the gear reduction :thumb:

Your last build looked real nice I’m very sorry to hear about that loss! Now you’re gonna come back even stronger 8)

There are more builds with both 138:s and 180:s in the motorcycle builds section, but I dont think there are any confirmed outputs.
I wouldnt say that builds with 180 90h are non existent, there are at least 3 motorcycles and I think 1 or 2 other builds on this site.
I think I had the 180 90h maybe in april last year, but it is not the same that are sold now.

Are you using Qs180 90H with 72v / 96v??
What would be the best configuration for fastest acceleration for a dirt bike??and Gear Ratio for 17/18 rear wheel.

Hey how is your build going to far? I'm planning on making a go kart using a qs180 80H as well. I'm stuck with what controller I want. It's either the nd72850, or nd721200. I'm thinking that the nd721200 is to powerful for that motor. What are your thoughts??

Is there a reason you are capping yourself at 72v nominal? I would at least go with the 841800 i think it can only help with either the efficiency knowing the controller can handle more or just the fact that if you want to go up to 24s on the battery u have the capability

I just made a account just to ask this but could you lmk how it went and if your not a busy guy I'd love to talk to you some via text or email you can contact me at eddie.john.tomblin@gmail.com I'm just trying to build a electric dirtbike myself and would love to ask somebody that actually knows what there doing some stuff
