Hey everyone,
I am looking for some help in building an electric drift kart. Right now on our drift go karts we run 212 Predator engines with PVC pipe around 1 rear wheel to reduce traction and let us slide easier. I think an electric go kart will be really fun, for the fact that the electric motor will have instant torque and thus hopefully eliminating the need of PVC.
Anyways, I've been doing some research that has led me to this forum. I am not sure what is the best motor/controller combo for what I want to do. After a bunch GOOGLING I found this site, /https://www.electricmotorsport.com/ that is located down the street from me. For a motor I think I like the ME11115 And for the controller the Sevcon Gen4. Every time I think I find a piece to the puzzle I come up with more questions, like for the controller, do I need to "program" it to run it, or only for more advanced features?
For batteries can I use a bunch of Lipos that I run on my RC cars wired in series?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank you
P.S. Sorry if these are dumb noob questions, I'm an electrician not an EV specialist.
