im contemplating doing my own budget ev conversion. would like some advice, im in the UK.

i have a peugeot 306 xsi 2.0 thats been sitting for years now....thinking about putting a cheap forklift motor setup in there (esc n all).
with some better lithium batteries.

hoping for maybe 50 miles range, not too bothered about top speed. i have most of the technical side down. just have a few questions.

for insurance costs.....am i better off finding a 1.4 306 for a conversion? as a 1.4 306 is cheaper than a 2.0 to insure.
or does that not matter?

also will i need a specialist insurance company for converted ev vehicles?

You need to talk to a specialist insurance broker,..one with experience of dealing with converted vehicles.
FWIW... i doubt the original vehicle spec will have much influence on the final premium !
The usual factors that dominate premium costs are ..
Driver record and age
Home address
Vehicle use
Extent of cover , ..3rd party, FIre , Theft, comprehensive, ...etcetc
.....and shop around !... premiums vary enormously for similar cover.
Contact your local EV club and ask for suggestions.
