E300 Build

Started out as my daughter scooter........
the E300 is a little too big for her......(still learning how to ride).....
Problem is.....way to slow for me........
Hit the old interweb....saw a couple ideas.....(top mount wasn't an option) my opinion ......... SLA way to heavy....
No place for them......lithium it is......
Placed an order for.....48v 1000w motor kit(motor controller throttle).....

Last but not least the battery....(added foam and silicone waterproofing)

The motor don't fit without modify they frame heavily........must cut out the kickstand...... smash the frame and alot of grinding......... reroute the brake cable......the chain tensioner must be flipped around and grind down flat so the stock bolt and nut can be used..... cut out the rear motor mount to accommodate the motor bracket

All I can say is wow...... 48v 1000w......isn't for kids.... TORQUE is all I can say(horsepower is how fast you hit the wall.....TORQUE is how far you take it with you)...... even with my 4 year old and myself......all the razor wants to do is lift up and wheelie......No problems going up hills ...... I have no complaints but ..... not fast enough...... did a little shakedown and its fast yes......but just not quite fast enough for......22mph..... also gotta mod the battery tray....a little to short.......and not low enough plus I hated taking apart the lid to charge it added a charge port..... maybe the roads other people ride on isn't as bad as NYC but how the world you do 50+mph?.....crazy added some lights so people can actually see me.....lol

Nice write up. Was that just an ebay kit?

How much was the battery? Did you get it with a charger?

I was planning on making the same thing, just had some other expenses come up.

Yea.... Ebay kit.....$90 shipped....... battery was $350 shipped..... came with a 54.6 2amp charger...... I understand it......thought about giving up. 2x.....got the Razor for$80........ that's $170......couldnt wrap my head around it..... until I got on it for the first......worth the cost...... the 15t sprocket i ordered for the motor....came chasing 30+ mph......Should take away some of the torque.....feel like the scooter trying to throw me off....

Picked up an E200 for my daughter......flat tire and batteries won't charge....... added air to the tire.....it held...... threw the old 7ah batteries from the e300..... it works.... except they didn't last maybe 28mins.......took her to the park......her riding.....we had to walk home....... I know its no where near my 20ah but only 28 mins....... they say 9ah fit...... so I said 9ah....why not 10ah.....let just say it fit..... slight modifications (power switch and circuit breaker on the right now)..... and the speed controller relocated....... it fit :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

That's her story lol now mine....... the cheap connectors on the motor and battery.......create way to much resistance for what I'm trying to do....... yup the E300 break down........

Change of plans.......adding XT60 to all power wires connectors

Added the 15t sprocket to the motor......... it fit added some links to the chain....... didnt know the guide fell off..... losted it either which way cant ride it and take it for a spin

I swear this scooter worst than my PROJECT car.......... Always breaking down......
E300 frame......seems solid but.......I hate the top mount design.....I see why people do it...... the left turn radius is no more......turn or lean too much towards the left..... the motor banging the pavement( )..... going up driveways and sidewalk ramps..... depending on the grade.....yup its scraping or banging( ) speed bumps are my enemies..... beside those issues.... it's an amazing little project........ enough of my talking.....back to the Star.......
Needed a chain tensioner....... and didnt want to wait on the mail......found a local E300 for a donor........

Chain tensioner used......and than I looked at the wheels....it look like the Blue E300 wheels are bigger........ yup they was they barely fit since I moved the rear motor mount to accommodate to motor..... nothing a grinder cant fix....... but not now wanted to get up and rolling.......

If I must say.....it looks good...... fit like a glove.......


Now let's talk about this 15t sprocket........ it's not good for what I want.....I never thought I say this (Honda Guy).....but I miss the torque...... the 11t sprocket jump to 15t sprocket...... took away too much torque..... my top end is amazing maybe 29 or 30 mph.....haven't had a chance to check the speed....... the band brake burnt up and now its metal to metal so it's not safe......smelt that burning smell.....thought it was the speed controller again...... but smelt like hot brakes.....knew it was time to go swap the blue E300 band brake over(think I would go disc)


Now a 13t sprocket......is what I need....

Finally got to do speed run....... 24 mph......

No issues...... brakes work again..... maybe the bigger wheels helped...... but no more low clearance issues......went up a sidewalk ramp..... no bumping or scraping....... speed bumps.......not a problem....... got carried away and turnt in to far left...... a simply bang of your motor hitting the pavement...... yup..... still have low clearance issues but not nearly as bad lmao

scooter always in the way .......... felt bad....... first scooter project...... going so well until... a better frame came along ......didn't know what to do with this scooter...... my daughter said Dad....... can I have your old scooter...... I know it's too fast for me but I can go slow......... like any other dad...... I gave it to her........ sold her E200 for $100....... bought her 24v 500w motor and controller........ maybe I should play lotto...... not what I ordered...... any other time..... but for my daughter

Why couldn't this happen for me? Not a 24v 500w.........had to send it back....... way too fast for my daughter......The right one came this time........ went straight to the wiring.......

Going from a 48v 1000w to 24v 500w...... swap went easy..... motor fit the 1000w new motor mount I made...no adjustment....... using the same gearing that was on the 48v 1000w.........

Oh boy is ground clearance issues as mentioned before..... it was taking a beating...... (1000w motor still runs no issues) a little scratches...... it will buff out
now let's talk about batteries...... 24v 10ah was her E200
Since the E300 battery tray was modified to fit the 48v 20ah lithium battery..... so I 3x 12v15ah it is.....24v 30ah..... was going to do 12v 12ah but 12v 15ah...... basically identical...... in size give 1 or 2 mm........ Measure 10x cut 1x...... the 3x 12v15ah didnt fit...... 2x of the 12v15 fit in side the tray......

I just knew all three would fit side by side....... nope oh well back to wiring

Quick thinking.....maybe permanent but it works for now 24v30ah.......
