hi guys

i'm looking at making a drift trike,

I've been looking at dual motor with belt drive using flipsky 6.6 dual VESC . What would be the largest dual motor setup i could run on either 12 or 13s lion battery (right near the VESC limit..hehe)

Is there any specific reason why you'd like to use a dual motor setup?

Dual setup mostly because I have stub axles on the trike so just less fabbing involved.
Got gng 2016 kit with 72v lipo.
Just getting a few more bits and pieces together before I try to test it all out.

There are also a lot of pulleys for them and it shouldnt be too difficult to fabricate mounts and transmission.
 
So I went with some old motors from gng. It's been slow going with other commitments taking priority but shouldn't be long before a finished project

Got some testing done last night, motors turned! BMS on!

Then $15 dc converter (72v to 12v) went 72v on the 12v side and blew the 12v coil on the gigavac contactor. Lucky no other damage. Lesson learnt on fusing 12v side and sizing dc converter to FULL pack voltage 84v approx.

So new contactor and dc converter to be ordered before any more testing.

not sure if chargery bms 24t is working correctly as there is large volt differences between cells (180mv) and set it to balance and no change. Any help here will be much appreciated.

I've also found that cheap chinese dc-dc converters have a nasty habit of passing input voltage straight to the output when they blow.

Pretty much all phone and laptop chargers these days are switch mode and will run fine on 72v dc. I've found most are fine down to around 30v and are far better quality than the cheap dc-dc converters.
 
Thanks district9prawn. I was sceptical to think that they would take the dc on the input side but I've seen a few people here who have done it

Test run today!!
Wow, it's pretty fun.

Had to modify the drive spindle on one side as the thread undoes when running, small grub screw fixed that.
Also running with a different 12v source at the moment as we are still waiting for the dc converter.
Also waiting on replacement precharger, using a Resistor for now.
