1000w controller on a 250w motor

I’m upgrading my scooter in pieces one at a time.
I want to upgrade the controller first and step up to a 1000w. I figure it should be ok for the motor. But what if I step up the voltage (from 24 to 36) and wattage (1000w). It will be hard on the motor but I should be ok right?

Thanks,
Gary

It will work fine but you will need to watch your motor temp and avoid jackrabbit starts as it may overheat when you are pushing more current through it.

what does "jackrabbit starts" mean?

Unleash the magic smoke! You will probably fry your motor if you want to go fast, and you probably want to go fast since why else would you upgrade?

To go fast without frying your motor, pick a motor rated for the kind of power you want to use.
