[Moving the question from bottom of the page to the top:]

Has anyone else put together similar escooter demonstration of Light EVs as people + package personal transport?

Our local Electric Vehicle Association group, TEVA of NC, updates demonstration vehicles for educational EVents every year. eBikes have always been a part of the demonstrations, but restricted use to exercise stands unless a local ebike dealer brought some of their rolling stock. escooters have been slow enough and could be demonstrated in a restricted area.

This year I set about upgrading a very popular demo from 2018 where we hitched a light weight trailer to an escooter, HCF301, with 16" shock mounted "training wheels". The resulting Light EV Kart made deliveries all over the venue for the first EVent and became part of the larger Light EV demonstrations prior to COVID19 shutdowns in March 2020.

Here is an article updated for 2022 summarizing our CycleBoard Kart and history of the HCF301 Kart at Drive Electric EVents.

All the pieces for feedback on a practical Last Mile Light EV Kart for shopping and hauling things and kids are depicted in this stock photo below:
  • onboard carrying basket
  • trailer for kids or goods too heavy or bulky for basket
  • folds into boot/trunk of car
  • appeals to wider audience than ebike based Light EVs
  • under $2k (not actually on the photo!)

The HCF301 + HoverBag trailer were great for demonstration, but they are no longer manufactured and were difficult to fold into the back of a car such as our Chevy Bolt. The CycleBoard and a bicycle trailer can be transported in a car's boot/trunk, but has only one teensy problem: we can't find a way to restrict a rider from bumping up the speed to 25+mph, yet!
