There's a ton of great builds out there and it's getting much harder to find all the DIY electric longboard and electric mountainboard build threads.

I feel it would be helpful for all the newcomers interested in building a board. People can find builds they like and checkout the threaded post.

If you can add photos of your build and specs on your build + link to your build thread (if you have one).

Here is my setup...I have a factory made EMAD board and wanted to build a DIY. Found a similar set of wheels/trucks/motor mount as mine for cheap on ebay so went that route. Might eventually, go full skate components for a really light weight setup but these larger wheels do great on the rough roads. Between my 2 boards I ride one everyday. I work from home so don't commute but I do dropoff/pickup my son from school everyday. Plus just playing outside with the boys and their bikes/scooters/e-scooters.

Here is my thread for more: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=57517

Updated the board with torqueboard's single motor kit. So much lighter and rolls much smoother. Weights about 12.5 lbs. And for sure is a little faster.

Here is the Thread to mine :) Running 2 190KV Sk3 Turnigy Motors with 2 HobbyWing 150A ESC's, and 2 Zippy 5000ma, 20c series, 6 cell batteries on an MBS Atom. Custom made- lazer cut mounts and welds. Gear ratio 5:1
11 tooth motor sprocket
55 tooth wheel gear sprocket

Adding. I am a college student so I am using it as a daily rider on campus. Hard to carry but a lot easier than walking across campus where all of my classes happen to be haha.

Nice thread Torque :) Here are my builds:

"Popping to the shops" cruiser
Fairly short, nice and flexy - Mindless longboard deck
Holey Trucks, ABEC 11 wheels
Alien mount, Alien 120A ESC and 170KV 63mm motor (single drive)
5000mah 5S Lipo
15 mph (24 kph), 10 mile range

gocat_done.jpg

"Uphill is fun" downhill mountainboard
Dirtsurfer FS
Custom mid-mount (using Alien bracket), Alien 120ESC, 170KV 63mm
5000mah 5S or 10S if feeling brave
19mph (30 kph) or 30mph at 10S

dsurf_rideable1.jpg

(motor has since been tucked up nearer the back wheel since this photo!)

Very proud of my boards, they are awesome fun. Couldn't of done it without the ES forums, so thanks to everyone who posts here.

board.jpg

It goes 24.1mph according to Strava longest ride so far has been 17 miles.

35inch Jet skateboard deck
Paris trucks w/ Torqueboard's mounts
abec 11 flywheels 83mm
rear drive Turnigy 6354 245kv dual motors
2x 6s lipo 10ah in parallel
Flier 8s dual ESC
16x34 gears
dual controller works with wiimote or quantum controller.

Here is my Build.
Motor: Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6374-149kv Brushless Outrunner Motor - 1 unit
Battaries: ZIPPY Compact 5800mAh 8S 25C Lipo Pack - 4 units
ESC: Turnigy Trackstar 1/5th Scale Sensorless 200amp 8s Opto Car ESC - 1 unit
Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz 2Ch Tx & Rx
Sprockets: 9t (on motor) and 80t (on wheel)

Speed is about 20 km/h.

Now i'm waiting for new hobby part such as Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6374-149kv and four ZIPPY Compact 5800mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack to upgrade board. 3S+8S=11S 8)

p.s. Didn't take photos, but I have video of my riding.

p.p.s. I don't understad, how someone could ride with build, that has Turnigy 6354 245kv dual motors
2x 6s and 16x34 gears. Because they have not enough power to start riding.

Very impressive Laureloke, considering the different terrains you were riding on. I also like videos, it shows what the board is really capable of not just how it looks.

I agree with pediglide.. my first build was using 4238 750kv motors with a 5:1 gear reduction 4s batteries.. still managed 20 mph on asphalt flats.. Finally the motor burned up but not due to riding but because the leads shorted..
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=56839
Your mountainboard build requires several times the power of a "street" build due to the terrain.. for asphalt flats I do 53kph on my destroyer build with a single 6264 254 kv on 8s batteries...

Goal: 10 miles one way with gravel & crappy pavement, and no RC remote.

Arbor Genesis 42", custom wheel wells
SurfRodz RKP 200mm + adjustable bases, out to ~65o; 70x10mm axles
14x72x9mm belt drive, 5mm HTD
MBS Rockstar II / Roadie tires, 10x28 bearings
2x 5055 270KV, diagonal drive
4x 4S/4500mAh in 8S2P / 9000mAh configuration
dual-motor ESC & motor mounts from torqueboards
Wiiceiver + Nyko Kama nunchuck :D

Shown below with a temporary cover. The little flap in the middle exposes the "on" button and charging pigtails for 2x4S or 8S

problems: it's too fast and too torquey. Range is about 13 miles, top speed is 25mph or better. 23.8#, I can hold it out with one hand.

It's a little torquey -- my fault for listening to a guy named "torqueboards" I guess :D At 4S it's a gentle ride. At 8S I take it easy on the throttle and lean into it and hold adrenaline down to a reasonable level. It drags me up hills and through grass / gravel without using much additional throttle. I have not had it WOT while standing on the board.

The trucks weren't too bad, but certainly not the cheapest option. I'd do it again though, they're amazing, and I could get the right axles for these MBS wheels. My next board will probably also have Surf-Rodz (we're talking about a new setup with Hybridz)

Still needs to tweeks and CNC mounts (If anyone knows someone who can do it for a fair price contact me!) as well as addign breaks to the front. Just got roadie tires.

Currently 20MPH with 5/1 gear ratio 55/11 Going to 47/16 to get faster. 190 KV motors.

Nice! Are you able to run in grass? What's that giant thing you're holding? :p

instead of dropping the gearing, you could bump voltage to 8S -- better in grass *and* more speed. Mine does bout 25 in a strong headwind, with 8S, 6:1 gears, and throttle limited at 75% in the ESC.

I want that in the US WTF why does all the fun things happen in other places
