I broke down and purchased the eWheels Speedway IV scooter. First impressions: well built and solid with plenty of power and programming options. Riding is easier than expected. I'm an avid ebiker but never rode a stand up scooter or even a skate board but within minutes felt very comfortable. After a slow non eventful ride around an empty school yard, I bumped up the speed to maximum and took off cruising the neighborhood. And survived without falls or bruises, which is rather impressive for a chubby 58 y/o aging baby boomer. Downside to the scooter: HEAVY! Battery can't easily be removed. For an apartment dweller with no elevator, hauling it up stairs to charge isn't easy. Scooter is very heavy. But ride is smooth and comfortable.
