Good Morning All,

My father in law has a 48V Minn Kota electric outboard attached to an older beautiful 14' Montgomery Ward aluminum hull boat. He currently powers it with 4 12V lead acid packs. His question is; could he use the on-board 48V charger to charge a lithium pack of similar voltage? Thanks in advance guys.

If the lithium pack has BMS with charge balancing, and the cells are well able to take the charge rate, and the maximum voltage is correct, then it would probably work with a "dumb" constant voltage charger. If it's the not-quite-as-dumb hiccup type charger, then probably not.
