Bike will not exceed 10 MPH

I work at an ebike shop and a customer brought in a custom built ebike (his sons bike who passed away) that had a bad display causing it not to turn on. After replacing the display, the bike turns on but will not exceed 10 MPH. Also the speedometer doesn't work nor does it show power output. I am unclear if the speedo and power output worked prior to the bike coming in. The display is a 750C, has a 72V battery and I am unsure of the size of the direct drive motor. The controller has no stickers or markings to show what brand or model. I have changed all the advanced settings to essentially unlock the bike and still no joy.
Does anyone recognize the controller brand?

Possibly a Kelly controller, have you measured pack voltage is the screen same as one came off, any extra info you have will help, im thinking maybe settings wrong or controller fault,

The current voltage from the battery is 82V (72V battery) and I replaced the display with the same (72V) as the one that came off. I tried a KT display (48V) and it turns on and operates the same as the 750C.
I have tried maxing out the current output as well as lowest setting. Messed with the motor pole settings and still nothing.

Did you change the motor setting via the display?
It looks like a Sabvoton controller. I believe both Kelly and Sabvoton have models that work with that display, but both are programmed either via bluetooth and smart phone, or cable and computer. The display changes some basic parameters, so wondering if you accessed the motor pole setting via the display.

I guess I can elaborate more on why the bike came to us. Customer was unloading his bike out of his truck with the display turned on and when he dropped it from the tailgate, the whole system shut off. I thought it was a lose connection but everything was good from what I could see. I tried a different display (KT) and the system turn on. I ordered a replacement 750C and now I am stuck.

I have tried each combination of "poles" in the display as well as various current output and still no joy. Those seem to be the only "advanced settings" for the controller and motor within the display. The display doesn't seem like it has bluetooth capabilities unless I am missing something? I do have a programming cable for Bafang mid-drives but not sure if that would work for the controller I have.

Given your description, I would suspect something hardware related instead of software. But if the controller is bluetooth capable, then all you would need is the IOS/Android app to access the controller parameters.

Update: I was able to connect to the controller via Bluetooth and see and change settings. I can get the bike to go much faster but I have to slowly roll the throttle. If I throttle to fast, the motor will shutter and is unhappy. I believe the issue is the poles in the motor is not programmed correctly. Unfortunately the motor does not have any branding on it but I do know it's a direct drive. If anyone can help identify the motor, that would be great and help me a lot to learn about the motor to program correctly.

Another question I have is if the display programming overrides the app programming or visa versa?

Try 46

Tried 46 and the motor is still shuttering. Had a mishap with the axle spinning which took some time to repair. Got a nice solid torque arm on there.

Finally got back to working on the bike after a couple weeks. Still having issues with the bike. It's really difficult to properly program the controller when I have no idea what model of controller the bike has.

Does anyone have some recommended settings regarding the current values? Also the speedo and power monitor are not working :(

Which bluetooth app did you use to connect to the controller. If it's the MCON/Sabvoton one, then it has a self-testing/learning function.
