Hi ALL

I installed this BBSHD 52v 20ah, last year PUT 3000 miles on it .it was great then I started draining my battery way too fast I used to go 30 miles on a charge now I caned go 15 or so I bought a new battery thinking that was my problem that wasnt it Im starting to thnk it might be the controller Im looking at the GRIN Frakinrunner but they seem to think its somethin else

also the motor gets hot an over heats Ive got 9 PAS modes if I keep it at PAS 1 or 2 it gets hot but doesn't shut down any higher it shuts down it cools down an works again

also when I ordered I guess I measured the shaft of the bottom bracket wrong I didnt have enough room to put that bracket That holds the motor in place I dont know what its called I just put the bolts in I put a lot of lock tight put them on tight an Ive been ok I just wanna ride it again

THX FOR THE REPLY

Ill take pics of it start the tear it down tonite

here some pics before the tear down the motor sits a little low this turner dhr had chain tensioners they put bosses to mount the chain tensioners the one I show there will not allow the motor to mount higher I dont off road yet so it doesnt get in the way

I had a couple of strokes 5 years ago lost the use of my whole right side I had relearn how to do alot of things getting better all the time off roading was next theres a much of trails here in Utah I wanna take this on those tails when this is fixed

as I remember the ordering an install I had no room for any other way to get any locking nut I could put the plate but no way could two nuts to fit there was not enough threads ,plus I must admit I didnt know what was doing.

I remember measueing the bottom bracket but I was still recovering I had trouble getting to my knees so I mustve measure to the bosses of the chain tensioners at 68mm thought that was the size I needed looks like that shouldve been 3.25 inches or 83mm

so is this fixable

man was sweating like crazy out there I havnt been able to do that in 5 years, felt good for once it was 100 degrees an really humid Ill start the tear down tonight

buy the way thats all thread lock on the threads I used alot of it, it seemed to work it came loose once thats when caked it with thread lock never came loose again

on my rides I would go 25 35 miles PAS 1 then head home on the way, because it was in traffic I would turn PAS up to 9 (pas is 1 TO 9) an ride with traffic up to 30 mph top speed +/-. an yes it would get hot but all vids I see that was no problem from what I was seeing .it was only 2 OR 3 miles from the bike trail

but this Utah some of them rides I remember it being 110 113 degrees but when I start out I know to down shift an start in 1 or 2nd then shift up from there like your driving a car thats was part of the fun

can that lock on bottom bracket get to tight cause I remember torqueing that down could that have done it

let me go measure and take some pics of that bb be right back

I dont think I have enough room to put a hose clamp on there I have to go back to the store the 1 have is a too small to fit around the the bb but as thick as it is its too big but I think there are smaller i.e. not as thick

I need to grind that boss for the chain tensioner so I swing the motor to highest point anyways just needed an excuse to do it LOL or another reason

I hope thus pics work for

By the way I really appreciate your help with all this youve put a lot of time in this to help me out

THANK YOU

oh ya its the hall sensors with bad wires I haven't been able to find a place to buy that an the gaskets yet

Ive come up a lot of resistance at bike shops both in California where I'm from an now in Utah as soon as I say I put this bike together and Ive been doin this for years they want nothin to do with me. do you get that there.

thats why Im helping out at the co-op

an I wanna get the frankinrunner from GRIN. its twice as much as the stock controller, but its something I can play around with a lot more. but Ill use the one I got now for now maybe a winter upgrade. unless you think that I start anew I got a new battery so that would be everything is new
also what about that metal gear upgrade is that ok or does it wear out the rest of the motor

I think the stabilizer bar you selected is preferred for his bike, he should be aware of the other styles in case he needs another option. I like the flat ones and run them up the seat post not on the chain stay. I tend to clamp or use a Rivnut. I'm not a fan of bolting through hollow frame members.

Rotation is a big issue and although it won't work on Wally's bike the mount to the seat tube tucked the motor up where I like it. I almost went with a stainless Rivnut but decided on clamping. One clamp would have been fine. I tend to go overboard on some things. The original BBHSD mount was creaking with every change in torque no matter how hard I clamped it. This stabilizer bracket has been a great change for the better.

I ordered the luna plate. That one you suggested Diggs would fine for the seat tube placement but my bike doesnt have a seat uptube from the bb which was a concern for me that Luna stabilizer plate is perfect the rest I gotta wait til I can afford it. one week away

here some pics of grinding on the bike.

just some parts an Im ready to install. Looking forward to riding this again my stealth (my other bike) Im having electric issues now so no riding for now

Im just gonna replace the stator assy I could just shrink wrap thus wires but Id just have in the back of my head so Ill replace it

and the controller I want the frankinrunner from grin an the nylon gear I can afford it. its just gonna be a slim September for me

but I want to ride

Ive been looking for this central motor assy no one has one in stock. found 1 it has a shaft of 100mm but I should be able to use mine right this one is in china. alibaba has one on sale now for a $100 right now Im just not sure if the rotors are exchangeable I asked ali I get no answer. an then how do I pull it out just muscle it out or is there a special way

EBUILDER I will do those measurements an have some pics asap

they batteries are from a builder in china so Im sure it not the best choice Im gonna make some news my self an put a better BMS on it its my winter project that an putting other stealth together gotta stay bizzy or IIl never get better

I went with green bike cost was $200.39 with shipping luna was $200 plus shipping so I consider that a save if I'd go with alibaba $185 Id have to wait 2 months for it to get here

I did get the plate from luna an did a Mach install here are some pics of it I gotta bend that plate to fit in there better.
thats all hand tight it looks like I gotta trim off alittle moreof the bb so that lock screw ,top, grabs 2 more threads an I think I got it

WHAT DO YOU THINK

PLEASE EVERYONE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

I got my main motor core today I put it back together with the old controller now I get a 10h error Im sick of this crap alibaba has a brand bbshd on sale now for $600 Im really considering it but Ill probly get 3000 miles again before it breaks then Ill do it again

so what is a 10h error

Well I want to get this bike going now I know I need to reset this motor sorry its been so long I had another stroke 2 months ago But I got to the hospital in time they gave this new med an it made me like nothing happened, Ive had to move, then I had that china bug while moving.

Just getting my shop set up I need to get this baby back to running again I know theres a thread that has the app an the directions I need to reprogram this BBSHD can anyone point me to where I need to go

THANK YOU for the help Ive had on this so far I have trails right in my back yard my stealth is a little big an bulky on these single track trials should fun on my green machine though.

OK LOOKS LIKE something happened to this thread I got a bunch responses here an i worked a problem out with my bike

I forget his name but he help me out a bunch with a problem I had with my TURNER DHR with a bbshd. my batteries were loosin a bunch of power I couldnt figure it out then after he help my out a pulled the motor out a took it apart my phase wires got so hot the installation over the wires I had to replace the central motor assy, got it in an together an I got a error I guess t needed to reset my controlled that was sept 22 ,seems longer,

any ways all the conversations I had with the nice guy helping me is gone an he had some great info to give mainly about my next steps I need to take

I guess I need to reset my controller not sure, I got my stealth going at the time, an put this on the back burners till now I want to get this running any help on how to reset my controller on a bbshd

Walley,
First, I am sorry to learn of your health struggles. Man, another stroke. I hope with God's good grace your health improves so you can get out on the bike.
Bafang rev'ed the design level of the BBSHD motor core a couple of times during the lifetime of the BBSHD. I hope you have the right controller to match your motor internals.

Edit:
I took some time and read back thru your thread Walley. What I learned is you bought a new controller and/or core and you are getting a 10H error code. Please know others have experienced this error.
The reason for the error is an incompatibility between the controller 'firmware' and your motor core. As it turns out, Bafang made a change to the BBSHD and updated the controller firmware.

Probably in your shoes I would email the place you bought the controller from and send them the following link and see if you can get a proper controller to match your BBSHD motor core.

This link should shed some light on what's going on. They maybe able to guide you through the reflashing procedure. You may need a Bafang chipped USB cable to plug into the big plug in your wiring harness that is used for the BBSHD that connects to your display.

Yes, this is a PITA but no way around it if you want to get your controller and motor to play nice together.
