I live in a beautiful place and can ride a rail trail almost the entire commute. I don’t do it everyday, but it’s great when I do. It’s shorter if I take roads, by about 4 miles, but the trail is so much nicer.

When my workplace many years ago moved and my 10 mile round trip commute became 40+ miles, I considered stepping up my e-bike game to be able to ride there in an hour on the multi-use path. But instead I quit my job and moved back to Austin.

I haven't had more than a 5-1/2 mile round trip commute since then, nor have I worked doing anything I didn't want to do.

One of my latest builds.

A Surly converted to an eBike with an Ebikeling kit. This was pretty much stock, and just added the motor and HPC frame bag. I am actually surprised by the performance and quality of the ebikeling ebay kit. :thumb:

Merida 2015 one twenty with Leaf motor, stock controller shut modded to 50A. Grin torque arms either side and 48t front ring. 9 speed twist shifter conversion. Top speed about 50kph (slow winding). Battery is 14s5p Samsung 25S. Still a bit more tidying to do but should be a comfortable commuter

Well... Here's an update of my forever modified DIY ebike.

Original picture of broken down, nonfunctional, rescued off Craigslist full suspension bike:

Here's the "current" revision of my ebike with a custom 16s 67v 30ah battery that fits perfectly in the bottom of the rear rack case:

Here are the various iterations of my Moots Cinco setup starting from my 48V Bafang BBSHD at the bottom to my current CYC X1 Stealth setup at the top with 52V 12.5Ah pack or 8Ah pack which may be upgrading to 10Ah pack that will fit in same under saddle bag. Just wish the Stealth was quieter for a truly stealth setup.

I believe it's a 1996 or 97 Marin nail trail I got for 10 bucks at a garage sale. I took it down to the frame and cleaned, greased, or replaced all the components. The kit is a 75 dollar 24 volt kit from wish.com that was a total pain in the ass to get working correctly. The battery is a 36 volt li ion scooter battery. So far it's working great, I've only put around 50 miles on it since I worked all the kinks out.

Nice farthole in the seat... for added thrust I suppose? :D :flame:
Nice looking bike tho!

That cutout area is to prevent damage to your urethra and promote blood circulation.

I have to say I love this ebike conversion to 1500W hub with a 52V 17.5Ah battery.

It's immense fun out in the nice weather...need to think about mudguards now but don't want to take the face of the bike as I really like how it's currently looks (even with the black forks) , the hub/battery is bit of a give away though if you're looking...

BEFORE

Old Halfords MTB (could be 20 yrs old...), think it was my sister's, rescued form elderly parents shed.

DURING

Cold setting frame before shot blasting, respray and build.

AFTER

Since these pics were taken I've rebuilt drive train and put on new derailleur/shifter, currently designing my own torque arm for drive side.

New brakes, new black front fork after respray (grrr...as I bent original forks in a crash when rear axle spun out on test drive)

Also have tidied up the cables at front in to a nice bag.
