I just put this bike together. Widened the frame 3" to fit 40 of these SPIM08HP 200a cells in a 20s2p pack. The thing is a rocket bike.

I’d be surprised if the motor’s putting out as much as 8kW when you’re stuffing 12kW in.

How would one measure the motor output, besides a dyno? Im pretty new to this stuff.

Edit. These numbers are from my bms software. What the battery puts out..

:bigthumb: Very nice, your build looks great. How difficult was it to widen your frame? I need to do something like this myself, I have almost the same frame I believe. Have you had any of the SPIM08HP cells fail on you? Ive lost 6 in the past 3 weeks, I think my issues is with the plastic holders. I had no issues before adding the holders to the cells to better secure them to the frame. How did you go about mounting yours if you dont mind my asking?

What did you use for connecting the cells together? I have a bunch I want to build into a 20s2p pack

I am not sure what the OP used but I used a pop riveter (it was cheap and seems to hold up nicely) and it gives you something to soldier to as the tabs alone are difficult to soldier to. Hope your 20s 2p pack turns out great, I am trying to squeeze a 20s 3p pack of these cells into my frame.

Sorry ive been away for so long. I used a 6 ft piece of 1.5" x 1.5" square tubing from mcmaster carr. it was pretty thin and difficult to weld for me but it worked. I cut it lengthwise down the middle giving me 2) 1.5" x .75" pieces. I notched the corners and bent it basically to match the stock covers and then welded up the corners. I used these threaded clip deals to mout it to the stock frame cover holes. I built up the floor so i could physically push the battery out of the bike smoothly and quickly with my foot if needed.

I made these bus bar deals out of copper to squish 2 tabs on bottom side and 2 tabs on the top together. Had to make 20 of them.

I have a 24v powerwheels battery out of these cells for my kids car. I used pop rivet like you described but was worried about the amps and went with bus bar clamping method i posted above. Kids battery still working good.

My bike battery is also stiill working well as i have several hundred miles on it now. No issues. Hit 62 mph on the flat yesterday

All cells are holding up well. I balance them to .002v per cell of eachother quite often.

:bigthumb: Nice! I sorted out my the cell failure issue, 500+ miles now and no serious issues. How are you liking that rear mudguard?
