Hello everyone

After selling my extra light bike, I have a new project to keep warm in this cold Russian winter

Purpose: a lightweight and compact electric bike capable of driving more than 100km at a speed of more than 60km/h over rough terrain and very bad roads

At the moment I have made some sketches. Most likely, the drawings will change over time, but let it remain for history

I'm glad to hear you are starting a new project. What is it that you like about the QS120, in comparison to the QS138?

I tried on different engines in a 3D project, and chose 120 because of its size and weight.
138 is more suitable for a large motorcycle, and I need a compact and lightweight ebike

an interesting motor, but I will drive through mud
a lot of dirt and snow
on a QS motor good mud protection

I own a 12070 motor and can advise that they are not ideal. Tend to overheat themselves under low load.

Also not actually good for 25kW.

The 108 motor simply won't be enough to get the kind of power this Russian needs.

I also was looking to the QS120 for my porject, then decided to use the QS138 to get a bit more torque - they have quite similar width and the bigger diameter of the 138 was not an issue for my frame. I agree that the 2kg saving will definitelly makes it feeling more nimble -

interesting to know what gear ratio you gonna use.

QS120-70h is perfect for a lightweight build. the best thing about it is the low kv=38 so single-stage reduction is sufficient. qs138 requires a 2-stage (super big rear sprocket not recommended for off-road)

i'm using 17s pack. 11t motor sprocket, 56t rear on a 17x3.00 tire. votol em100 at 120A, never gets hot even when bogged down in sand so i think it could take a 150A controller (probably more if you watch the temps)

Hi! Thanks for the comment! I like your experience with QS120 :bigthumb:
