I've become hooked on recumbent cycling and my wife only likes to tandem. The solution was to buy HER a Rans Screamer recumbent tandem for Mother's Day.

Then to make it even more fun, add a BBSO2 from EM3EV.

Here are some of the details. The rear axle needed some help staying in the drop out with all the power. So I made these.

The battery was a 50V 16.5 Ah triangle from EM3EV that needed a box. This was bent then cut in half to aid install and removal. OK, I made it too wide initially, so I cut it in half, folded 1/2in in on both halves, mounted half to the bike and bolted the other half in a snug fit. Lemonade from lemons.

This is how the bike is changed to a right drive tandem. The outer chainring is 52t the drive chainring is 54t. This is accomplished with a "race triple chainring bolt" and spacer as described by Harris Cycles. I have upgraded the BBSO2 to a DropStop 52 chainring, to decrease chain slips, using a 130 adapter from California Ebikes.

My wife loves riding HER tandem with me, especially electrified.

VERY nicely done! I am int he process of electrifying a Rans V2 similar to your other build you posted with a hub motor. Torque arms are non existent as far as I can tell. I like your solution above, I think that would be plenty for a hub motor. Any chance you machined a couple of extra plates to sell? ;)
