I think I am getting the run around with my local escooter shop. I have an electric scooter (the old fashion style that you sit on and has handlebars). It has a 48v mother with a 15a life battery. I want to put a 40a 48v battery in the scooter and change the controller as well. The guy that owns the shop is trying to tell me that it will not work. Part of the reason...in the not so developed parts of China, they are afraid of the batteries - he wants to sell me an SLA. It also could be because he doesn't carry those products and wants to sell me what he has. I don't want the weight, and want more range. I want to get a new controller to get some extra features - cruise control, regen (for better braking).

If the battery will physically fit in the battery compartment and I buy a new controller that will manage both it and the motor, is there any other reason why it will not work?
