Matched (similar IR and capacity) often case with cells from same packs / modules

$100 kwh or less.

Looking for LG chem or other name brand pouch cells li-ion with low miles (car packs) or low cycles.

Looking for pouch cells
Tested
Matched (similar IR and capacity) often case with cells from same packs / modules
West Coast USA preferred but anywhere else in US okay too.
$100 kwh, negotiable.
I would buy a Chevy Volt pack and pull the cells myself, but No time.

I saw the LGZ P30 on battery-clearing house but they said the cells are chosen at random and are only checked for voltage. They Guarantee 26ah but who's going to actually test that. I guess you could if you only bought a few. If I dont get any replies ill risk it and go with those. I bought 300 SPIM08HP from them a few years ago and 30% were bubbly, soft, almost had puncture marks, or had hard grey glue on them. A few had 0 volts or very low. I quickly sold them all for 2/3 what I paid. Feld pretty robbed. They worked okay in parallel.

100$ a kwh? No. You might find used cells at that price point. I paid about the same ( less, actually) buying form Flood Cars. But then you get teh cells that may be puffed or lost capacity. Alot of flood cars sit at 0v and puff.

I bought my first Chevy Volt module at that price, but put alot of work into it for good repeatability. Cell testing. 100$ a kWh means you are testing.

I have a brand new Chevy Volt module if you want it. 0 miles. I will do $450/kWh. It is 2.1kWh nominal. I have been offered 300$ a kWh a few times for this module. I decline: I wont be able to buy one for less. I dont want to sell for 200$ a kWh.... Too cheap and not enough profit. I could sell it today for 350$ a kWh. So if you dont have any time, .... Good luck. My labor is cheap... ( 7$ an hour or so).

Someone will pay that ( 450$ a kWh) to get their car back on the road for sure.

Given.. the car... is worth 18,000$ working, and 4000$ not working. A 900$ module will make the car worth 14,000$ more.

900$. Is my price for the module I have.

Good luck.

You best just buy a whole battery for 2000$ - 3000$. If you want OEM matched cells, right off the line, in numerical order serialized for date julian code. That IS how they come out of the modules... in numerical order ( serial) with a julian date.

I have heard good things about BCH. Good other cells, the larger ones. Like the larger LGX/Z 60Ah cells... Some have pulled 600A peak form them. However, yes, it is hard to get good cells. Those SPIM08HP were junk until this newest batch ( Tom sent me a box of them to test). The new batch is ( testing) better than the ones form a few years ago.

YOu want to talk to someone about buying some Chevy Modules? Call this guy.

Yes, they are used, buy at your own risk. However, these will be DIRT CHEAP.

Green Tec will hook you up. Just tell Art that JP sent you.

The gen 1 volt are a tad low on energy density and volume, but could be okay for razor dirt bike.i have a Gen 2 60v 16s 3.1kwh i got for $550 shipped from AZ lithium i think he still has a few of them. I agree a full pack will be best bet. Ive seen some under $2k gen2 on car-part. Id make some money back selling cells. Anyone know a thread or source for lg chem cell designations and what car or devices they are used in? chevy bolt, Chrysler Pacific, and kia soul use long cells with end tabs. I wonder where the lgz p30 comes from. Its more capacity than volt gen 2 cells but same size.
Edit: batteryhookup has them listed incorrectly they are actually LGX P30 not LGZ this should help track them down.

Here is some good info. There are some threads here that I have posted in. Threads all over endless sphere of people building pouch cell batteries.

LGX is older: LGZ is newer.

The four cell models in the Volt battery are very good cells, gen 1 or gen 2. I have gen one revision two cells in my bike, and they rock. Push heavy current and wont die. Very good cell, advanced for its time. Energy density is not much worse than the later cells. Compared. I have sold a few hundred to other buyers. I have moved onto playing with the gen 2 cells.

They are :

LGX P1
LGX P1.5B
LGX 1.7B
LGZ2.7B

Pacificas had the same P1 cell as the early Volts. Kia Soul used a 5Ah LGX cell in its hybrid. The Niro is where the very strong lipos are. 3C charge rate. Bolt? i think its like a LGX E53 or N.2? cell name. Somewhere around 50Ah or something, IDK. Energy cell, not a power cell. Still very powerful.

Did he actually ship it to you already? I purchased from him, he took my money, but did not send anything . Did you get the module yet? Cool. He refunded me. I always thought his prices were big, but I like buying 10kWh at a time or more if I am buying cells. For someone to fix a car, it is understandable and still affordable . 177$ / kWh is not that bad of a price. Pls let us know the condition of the cells when you get the module and test it. Thanks in advance.

Credit to " Chris" on the DIY electric car forum for making this spreadsheet. I did not make it, but you can find the thread over there. Through 2019.

Yes check out my youtube video.

AZ lithium added a metal strap to resist bulging. Not sure what the full pack has for this. The module dropped right in. I am very happy with it. Ive never balanced it in 5 years. I get 0.01 v diff at 50v and 0.001v diff at 67.2v. I only draw 100 amps max. I try to keep it nominal 60v when not ridding it. And fully charge when it only when I need to ride the full 60 miles range.
Ill search for link to that spreadsheet id hope the creator is always updating it.

Can’t find Chris’s spreadsheet do you have it bookmarked by chance? Has anyone here made anything like it? Its awesome I'm going to make one on google sheets and share. People can contribute.

Yeah i will try to find it and link the original author here.

Yeah, I kinda quit balancing my pack like two years ago: it wouldn't go out. Four times a year and it is fine. They never go out at my small discharge levels. I would ride for months through the summer, winter, and they would go on the fancy charger, and they would all register less than 2mV max difference between them on my LGX P1.5b cell pack. Most of the time, even less. In the four decimal points balanced. I have not since October, balanced my ebike pack. I mean, i pay attention to it, and check it from time to time upon charge and discharge. Very well behaved cells. It rode at 25A for a year, then 50A for three years, and now I am hitting it for 100A. I have 2015 cells in my bike.

I strap a steel shipping band over the top cap to keep the module from coming apart when it is not all bolted up in the assy.

Cool. Really cool economical bike you have got there.

Should i be concerned if my volt cells are 0.01 diff when discharged ? With spim08hp they were 2v diff. And i balanced the spims every cycle

No. Its probably the accuracy of the BMS.

I have ePLBc 20 ah cells available from unused server rack batteries. They have 8p bus bars and are matched.
They are NOS new installed and have a working BMS wired for 48V 170AH manufactured 2017
I have two units with 208 cells for $1200 each

Did you ever find what you needed? I ended up grabbing a bunch of the LGX 30 from BCH and may have some left after testing, sorting, and building into the packs I need (as soon as I figure out how to accomplish that.)

I just listed LG Chem 60ah cells on Ebay if interested.

If still looking I just put some on Ebay or PM me.
