bluetooth BMS?

In my experience, reconfiguring a 20s to 16s BMS from James requires:

1) Rewire the cell pins (some pads are joined)

probably, but how to find out the right combo? i dont want to kill something ;(

Some examples. Apply to other boards

Basically, you find the pads to be meant to be joined because they had a solder square at a side. For each cell you want to take from the maximum, join the pads, always starting from higer to lower.

Finished wiring the BMS, tested it and left it for a bit. Disconnected one of the temperature probes as I only required one and tried to do some discharge tests... At first there was no output power at all. After figuring that it's probably Cold temperature protection(probe disconnected gives -33C back) I've reconnected 2nd probe back. Wattmeter lit up showing voltage. Still can't discharge any amount of power. I can charge the pack and it will show everything correctly, but discharge doesn't work. Any ideas?

Edit: False alarm. My resistive load is damaged. Plugged another load and everything works again.. Weird

Voltage reading are spot on, but current is 33% higher then measured(from 4-25A). I'm guessing it's a matter of adjusting the resistor value in the software

For a more accurate current reading you can also remove these two small resistors: https://cloud.botox.bz/s/2ipzTsJNWQ222TH
(disregard the big one)
They divide the shunt voltage in half, the shunt resistor value is already way too small if one reads the datasheet recommendation for the TI ADC.
And then just put a constant current (like charging) on the BMS, measure the voltage on the little capacitor next to K1 and calculate the correct resistor value from that.

You can also calibrate it using the Calibration tab.
On the Calibration page you can input the numbers displayed by an accurate Ammeter.
You need a constant current load/charge though.

I have one of this bluetoot BMS,it is 10S.Can i meke it 14S when sort 13 and 14 pin?Has anyone tried this?

Post a picture, without the aluminum panel on the cell numbers labels side. These BMS come in ranges. 15 to 20S, 20 to 30S, etc. We don't know your model.

it is absolutely the same
Model: LH-SP15S001 v1.2

Ok. So you need to un-short all the pads and add wires, except for 13 and 14 pins.

This is really lengthy, but interesting thread with a lot of usefull info. Seams there are quite a few hardware and software versions from a lot of sellers.
Can somebody, please, point out to reliable source that sels latest version?
It would be cool if there is a stickie thread.

First 7 results are equipped with Bluetooth, the rest are RS232,CAN and what not.
On some models they don't ship the PC programmer box unless you specifically ask for it.

I've had about a 50% failure rate with the PC programmer boxes, so I would suggest buying one or two additional ones.
You can get them separately on Aliexpress just in case:

Hi all

I spent some time to clean-up and translate the interface of JBDtools, the latest (v1.A) version.

As I still haven't received my BMS unit, I surely missed some fields or made translation quirks.

Please let me know.

today i try use ftdi232, and it dont work, i dont connect vcc from ftdi since bms output about 10.6v on vcc pin so i worried about burning usb in laptop, anyone have some idea ? or i must buy original cable?

You need a self-powered RS232 to USB bridge. Don't try to connect to Vcc pin from BMS.

Anyway...believe me, their adapter is so cheap that it's not worth the hassle.

i just dont wanna wait from china to europe shipment, i want use what i have but i see i must buy and wait

I fully understand your feeling

Here I've got a quite old MobileAction MA-8620E "Nokia" serial cable, which is Prolific PL2302 based, and I just hope it'll be ok with the BMS serial interface.

This cheap cable is an all-rounder for many mods on routers, hard drives, etc

But I still don't know if it's ok with this BMS.

Great!. I'm still using V1.1.
I don't really understand who is the source of these new versions. Where do you get the original binary? It was chinese?
Do you know what new features provides this program? Do you know if it requires a newer firmware on the boards to work?

Thank you!

To my knowledge, there is no firmware version requirement to use the different JBDtools.

Over 1.1, 1.A has several improvements:

- ability to put the chip in sleep mode, for long-term storage of the battery
- more life counters
- config password protection
- ability to change/reset bluetooth PIN
- it "should" be multilanguage

The official 1.A interface is a mix of taiwanese chinese and chinglish.. plus fonts and metrics of window objects are garbage.

As I don't have access to original code, I modded program resources and Hex-edited it.

I just found VBMS. I risked spending 10 Aussie rubles and I am glad I did. Holy mother f&$@ing son of a.... Downloaded opened and boom! It verks ya it's VERKING!
Worth every penny. Saved me adding this device mistakes pile in the shed.

i could have sent it to you for free. ....

if peeps want the vbms apk:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B57Vy_eWL0KVQjBOSHdaV0xpODVabGwtR2NJZjVtWXg1cUhr

this version should be able to give the thing a password to prevent people from changing your bms settings. handy for reselling batteries.

this the the most usable version but you cant install a password but it is in english, sorta:

mind you: you cant install them at the same time due to having idential names.

Thank you for your work on this! The Chinese apps can be so much better, but they won't put in the effort.
