Legends dropping like flies

Trying to remember the exact statement from Carl Reiner on the radio interview, but he said something about creating a pilot for a TV series for himself in the late 1950's, something like 'I was trying to figure out how to make it better, then they figured out how to make it better without me.' Literally, they replaced him and it became 'The Dick Van Dyke Show.'

I remember the story about some search and rescue operation around where Hugh Downs lived, not sure if he'd have been 80 yet. All these journalists who would think of him as one of the deans show up and find him there, as a member of one of the search teams.

He makes the one statement that Sums up anyone who amounts to anything in this world: "I've been in some kind of fight. . .all my life. . . ."

It would be nice to think you could be the good guy and stay out of fight, but the bad guys and their flying monkeys won't allow that. If you're anything much of the good guys you get dragged into fights.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, her passing has affected me to most of everything this year.

How has RBG affected you?
Just wondering, I never really followed her but I know people who have read up on her prior to her passing and every single one of them said how great a person she was. Workaholic for the betterment of humanity :thumb:

My mother worked and raised 4 boys (i'm the second). Remember her struggle and how things were compared to now. The now has been shaped by people like Judge Ginsburg. Her passing as with so many others this year makes me feel like we are falling back into a hole that we have not quite climbed out of yet. Don't see any great people stepping up to workaholic for the greater cause.

She would have done well to retire ten years ago when she had a chance to enjoy herself guilt-free.
