So first off I peddle 90% of the time because I want some exercise. Also, I don’t want to be “noticed” or stand out in the crowd because I ride many shared and group trails. This includes paved, rock, chat and dirt trails. Also when around people I’ll keep my speeds down around 15 to 22 mph. On busier streets where I’m safe from cars (on shoulders and dedicated bike paths to the side of the road!) I’ll limit speed to 28 to 30 mph. If I’m riding with cars then I’m the fastest one in most cases. My bike is very fast and it keeps me safe. Unfortunately a comfortable cadence on my bike stops at about 23 mph but I can keep up to about 25/26 for a short time. Yesterday I went on a longer ride to some really good single track trail systems. It’s about 8 miles to the Katy trail from where I live now. About another 4 down the Katy Trail to the good spots. It was a beautiful day (87 degrees, sunny and low humidity) and the trails were packed. The ride included some really slow spots when I couldn’t get passed the crowds. On the way home I really opened it up for the last 6 miles or so keeping 45 to 55 mph down the service roads and 30 to 35 through the subdivisions. My motor with ferro fluid/Hubsinks and this new amazing 24f controller pretty much never gets hot. It’s like Nucular has some magic in their controllers that no one else has. I only have about 350 to 400 miles (the controller didn’t save settings once after some rides and had to start over!) but I’ve never hit 100 degrees celsius even when riding it like a dirt bike. My ride yesterday that ended up being a 35 mile trip and took just over an hour and a half with 52 Wh/mi. On flat ground sitting upright it takes less than 35 amps to keep 45 mph. It takes about 45/50 amps to maintain 55 mph. I need to get a new go pro.
