Just had an earthquake in Los Angeles

Lived in Tornado Alley for 13yrs. People ask me did I see a Tornado up close. The answer is i'm here to tell the tale so, no.

Lived in Hennessey, OK and seen plenty of destruction. Some time I will scan some pictures and upload them. From the 80's.
The reason did not see any up close was we would go underground in a storm shelter and flying debris makes it risky for your eye sight. Have you seen straw sticking in poles. Had one come over my house in the country side in the middle of the night. Woke up and gathered my family in a closet under the stairs until it passed. Did not dare to go out to the storm shelter. Lots of destruction that night. Has a Rabbit in a Cage/hutch outside, found the Cage 1/2 mile away. No rabbit, guess it got away.

We had earthquakes form the oil field pumping out oil and gas and injecting the salt water back in the injections wells. They are not much to talk about, could hardly feel them back then. Much worse 40yrs later.

Do you have earthquake insurance or is that covered under the title or mortgage insurance

It’s very expensive so most people don’t have it.

Yeah felt that one here.

At least we now have the location of the non-earthquake event. Navy ships shelled the island gunnery range perhaps?

I noticed nothing.

Only noticed the News talked about it. Don't hear about West Texas and Oklahoma having anymore. It's from the oil field pumping waste water in injection wells.

He has read lots of right wing crackpot propaganda.

The was water is pumped back in to a saltwater zone. At some point for some not all areas it becomes like fracking and causes the ground to shift. The zones are not as deep as natural earth quakes but can still damage your homes. Think the oil companies going to fix it. They still have not cleaned up the Gulf of Mexico yet. Just had a recall on clams in the Galveston bay area. Those that don't know it's by a major shipping port in Houston TX. Refineries and Oil tankers and slop in the water.

6.4 is pretty big, but I slept through it. It's about 200 miles north of me. Did some significant damage near the epicenter. Two killed and knocked out power to around 70,000. Quake center was very deep, like 10 miles. This had nothing to do with oil drilling. A 6.1 hit the same area exactly 1 year earlier.

Felt them both last night. The first one felt like a gentle rocking motion. It was 4.2, still in the fun ride size. I was woken up by it and wasn't even sure if we were having an earthquake until three minutes later I heard and felt the second one (3.6) which felt stronger for me then the first even though the first was bigger on the Richter scales. At 10 miles south of Malibu, that puts them about 30 or 31 miles from me. light earquake 1-24-2023 malibu.jpg

:D :bolt:

7.8 is an unimaginable monster of a size quake. I have been in a 7 when it whipped through Santa Monica and it destroyed the building I was in. The floor was whipping up and down and there was no way to stand. All I could do is lay on the bed that was whipping uncontrollably up and down. All I can say is God help the living!

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A 7.8 magnitude quake has knocked down multiple buildings in southeast Turkey and Syria and many casualties are feared. https://apnews.com/article/earthqua...e&utm_medium=TopNews&utm_campaign=position_03

Today about 6 am Wife and I are wondering why the house shook. Felt like someone drove a car into the house. Felt kind of like a giant rumbling truck. Had no idea what it was? Looked outside, saw nothing.

I got the internet. Look!
buffalo ny earthquake
