looking at buying a used one.

does the battery/bms talk to the controller?

is the bms like a laptop battery that cant be fixed?

the wheels supposed to work but would likely wind up making a parallel connection for a range extender battery
 
bought it, screwing around with it in the house, these things are pretty cool
first tried it outside wearing steel toes and just couldnt get up and going
barefeet, no problem :D

cant stuff 15s2p and a active cell balancer in the sidecover
was going to use vtc6 but they dont like regen whereas 30q like to discharge/charge with no break and that will kill lg batteries

decided to leave the lg mg1 pack in the sidecover and bring a plug out for a backpack battery
printed a junction box and jb welded the xt60 into it

used 7.5mm magnets and 0.1mm copper for the battery build, waiting for an active cell balancer to arrive but its ready for testing

the wheel is going into tiltback after only 4km's and kinda sucks once that starts

the mg1 pack is just too saggy id like to get 30km range, when going to lygte battery comparator

should be able to get 7.8 usable ah's out of this combination

wound up caulking and taping some 1/2"foam from my ender3 box

going to 3d print a magnetic break away connector that plugs into the xt60 now
 
i screwed up the baseplate and made the 14 gauge holes too small, printing another with a quick re-design
its a strong connection though and made the magnets so they repel each other if you try to connect it reverse polarity
actually a little impressed with how well it works :D
heres a picture of how far it repels when trying to connect reverse polarity

took it out yesterday for a 3km test ride
connection was solid even with the wires just flapping behind me
came back and both packs were at 60v, think starting voltage was 62.7v
still getting tiltback but thats from me wanting to go faster than the wheel will let me go :D

have to see if any makers are using 40T's in their wheels
 
downloaded the app but it cant find my wheel

after looking at how these things are made
theyre very simple
your just standing on the motor axle
the shell only holds components
as long as you mount the board the same orientation
can you just mount any board to these units

has anyone here just swapped out the control board with something like a kingsong 18s board

i want to go faster, go farther but all the EUC's are very pricey and proprietary, you cant just swap controllers or motors
but with a vesc you can :thumb:
time to make some major modifications :D
like to put a 16x2.50 or 16x3.0 tire on it
that means the shell has to go
the controller and batteries will need to be upgraded

riveted 2 aluminum sheets together, oversize for now, so i could drill all the layout holes on the drill press for 2 identical sides

theres 107mm of space in between the sides, the vesc is 84mm wide

when standing on the foot plates my knee lines up with the top of the wheel, thats kind of what im aiming for but thats where i want the seat, so the knees can press into the seat, maybe something like a sur-ron seat not sure yet.
time to print a mounting bracket for the old controller shouldnt take too long to design

need to get the od of the tire so i cant start printing the front and back fenders
should cut atleast 1.5 inches off the aluminum side panels

moved controller up and to the right to clear my leg
time to start printing body parts and fenders

took it for a good trip
you can feel the weight of the backpack battery being up high on slow tight turns but other than that the kickstand is very stable but will carve out the mid section so theres 2 feet on each end
it needs a trolley handle
the other controller will sit on top where the battery is now
need to design 2 low profile 20s2p battery packs for each side panel
that will keep the weight low and centered

the ninebot is really lame, it might do 10km/h but it was a cheap introduction to euc's for me and you can still out run the crash without doing a face plant :thumb:

thought about just buying a kingsong 16x motor and controller and building off that, its a 16x3.0 tire, 72v, does 30mph and would cost less than the vesc controller( $700cad)

couldve bought a begode tesla for $500, its a 16x2.50 tire and does 30mph but its used and cost the same as new kingsong motor/controller

if you crash a EUC the plastic shells blow apart and costs $100's in parts to fix if you can source them

this way, i can just print or remake what ever breaks for peanuts

cut another 40mm off the top and can finish printing off the trim and body parts

using up some roll ends, trying 15% infill, double wall infill, 0.8 nozzle for quick parts. they only use about 60 grams of filament and seem strong

put nubs on the kickstand, good and solid now

plasti dip spray the aluminum then use hair dryer to quick cure in 30 minutes
