I've built a prototype friction drive with the following motor:

E-Flite Power 160 (http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLM4160A
Brushless 14 poles
245 kV
Shaft diameter 8mm
overall length 64mm
diameter 63 mm

I've put on about 100 miles in the first week and it works great with a cheap Turnigy 85A ESC.
I'm currently building a bracket like Adrian's CommuterBooster.
