Is it for a fireworks show? To hook across the mains?
We can't really tell you if it's good, bad, or ugly unless you tell us what you need it to do; what project it is for.

It looks OK, but what are you going to use it for? It sort of looks like it's not really CC/CV so it might not be so good as a battery charger.

Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
Is to charge the battery of my vectrix. 38s22p(sanyo 18650-ga) li-ion battery 10kwh. Charging at 4.1v per cell. Charging 156v cv.
Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
I don't think it will be good for a battery charger. It might work, but you'd be running it at the maximum current during most of the charge so it might overheat or fail early. I didn't see an adjustment for the current limit.

Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
The charging can be at 230v single phase or 400v three phase more neutral.
posible problems. With different plugs and powers:
Slow charging. Connector schuko 16A Single-phase. They can only charge at 12A (2.8kw) continuously. Or charge at 16A (3.7kw) for a maximum of 2 hours. To charge at home. To charge on the street is easy to find.
Semi-fast charging. Connector type 2 mennekes. Single-phase 16A (3.7kw) or 32A (7.4kw). To charge on the street is easy to find.
Semi-fast charging. Connector type 2 mennekes. Three-phase 16A (11kw) or 32A (22kw). To charge on the street is difficult to find.
Fast charging. Connector type 2 mennekes. Three-phase 63A. To charge on the street is very difficult to find.
I have a cable from type 2 mennekes to schuko. Single phase to 16A (3.7kw). Operate on a single-phase and three-phase type 2 mennekes. This cable does not work with the fast charging 44kw mennekes type2. The connector is different. The connector is the longest and does not fit. To use it you have to buy a new connector and cables. it is very expensive.

I will look for another. That the current limit can be selected.fechter wrote:I don't think it will be good for a battery charger. Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
Why not use the Meanwell HLG LED PSU series? They are voltage and current adjustable, and potted. (but kinda heavy due to the potting, I think). Fanless, can operate at their ratings continuously AFAIK. About 7lbs each, size of a trade paperback book.
They are isolated, so you can series and parallel them. For instance, the HLG 600 series are 600watt, so at 58v they'll do over 11A. Series two of them for 118v, and 11A. Parallel another set of those and it's 118v at almost 24A.
Adjusted down in voltage to their minimum, you'd probably get the charge voltage you're after with three in series. Or use one set that's a lower voltage model in series with two at the higher.
AFAICR they are 230VAC or 115VAC in.

Of the series hgl would put three of 600w. I've been watching him.amberwolf wrote:Why not use the Meanwell HLG LED PSU series? They are voltage and current adjustable, and potted. But it would be much better some 1000w. With 3 are 3000w.

Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
Maybe they make bigger HLGs?
Or you can parallel them, so two 1800w strings for up to 3600w charging.
(This was done on a race motorcycle, I think it was at Laguna Seca? Can't find the post though).

A configuration with two parallels and three series is already done.

In case you need some more, 5 in stock currently.
About 60€ shipped.
EDIT: these are the 2000W PSUs, not 3000W.
If you want the 3000W one you can get it on Aliexpress for about double the price.

Just dropping by some info:
Also interesting: https://www.yleee.com.cn/thread-62600-1-1.html
I don't have one of these PSUs to test this, but I want to buy one if I can use it to charge my 14S battery with it.
Edit, Jackpot:

Found some more stuff:
This guy also made a pretty neat mod to his PSU: http://www.crystalradio.cn/thread-1623289-1-1.html
Seems like you have to short some pins, either internally or externally, to turn the PSU on.3脚通信H,4脚通信L
6/7/9脚用线焊短接起来,电源启动。
3 = CANH, 4 = CANL

There is a Chinese guy selling the programmer boards for about 12$ on Taobao
https://2.taobao.com/item.htm?id=565948 ... oSite=main
If you are having difficulty ordering it then you can use a third party service like Taobao Focus.
They will order it for you and ship it to you.
https://buy.tbfocus.com/item.php?id=565948826876
It's in English and they accept Paypal.

Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
Nice!
Good thing I've already placed my order @dutchrfshop for one of these PSUs

And I've also ordered some ESP32 dev boards + TJA1050 CAN transciever from AliExpress and will be making open source firmware to control the PSU through CAN.
With the ESP32 that means you could control the PSU through physical buttons, knobs or Bluetooth and WiFi.
Looking forward to ditching all of my other PSUs and charging 12S, 13S and 14S all with the same PSU and some fancy buttons/lights/display

Re: Rectifier Huawei R4850G2 48V 42~58V 3000w
I guess he's sold out for now. It'll probably take a week or two.
I'm already heavily invested in the EATON PSUs, so I'm just doing what I can to help from the outside.

All the CAN info you need is in this post: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=86038#p1427144
Use google translate on the OCRd chinese text (I don't speak chinese myself either, used google translate too).
That's the CAN IDs and messages you have to send to adjust the [default] voltage/current.
All you need is a microcontroller/dongle that can do CAN and maybe a CAN transceiver chip.
I doubt the chinese guy will give away his source code, I've read some forum posts of his and he didn't want to share any information for free.
As said before I'll be using an ESP32 + TJA1051 to control mine and will make the code open source, could take a few weeks however.
I do have a TI Tiva-C here too and a CAN transceiver chip in a broken device, so I might experiment with that too when I get my PSU.
I only need 10A for charging my 14S10P pack, even less for the others, so 2000W is overkill for me anyways
But it's cheaper, smaller and lighter than a 500W Mean Well HLG and programmable for a higher voltage range, should be really silent too on small loads.

It's the 2000W model up to 42A, and they all use the same communication protocol.
If you want the 3000W one you can get it on Aliexpress for about double the price.

Sorry, that I forgot to mention all that.
I didn't mean to mislead people.
I hope you guys know that a 16A socket can only supply 10A Cont. So you can run the 2000W version at full load without worrying.
Unless you use the red or blue CEE plug.

Ordered on 27th Nov, according to DPD it's still in NL...
But I found a TJA1050 can transceiver in my junk and hooked it up to a Tiva-C, so whenever I get the PSU I'll post the results here.
