Hi all,
I'm in trailbike nirvana with my Banshee spitfire with a bafang BBS02 and small 12s 5000mah lipo pack.
I've ridden a few levo's on the same trails and the experience is very similar despite the PAS. I found that by very carefully tuning the speed Vs current settings I can match my...
I'm in the same position, I wish that Bafance would incorporate a torque sensor in this BBS unit already.
Anyway, I've come across guides that describe how to extract the most from a PAS system like this to improve the ride ability,
particularly on mtb trails...
For all those still interested in good frame options, this is the direction I'm taking.
It's one of the neatest least conspicuous enduro like builds I'm seen on a really good frame, an early Santa Cruz Nomad. Thanks for all the advice thus far. I'll post a few pics when I'm done.
Thank you for pointing out that the BBS HD is heavier and just not necessary, you're absolutely right, I need climbing power and not speed.
I've done a ton of searching looking at frames that are available here and I think that I've found promising options.
The Transition Patrol and Smuggler...
Thank you Wayne for your very useful advice fine tuning the bafang. I've found some articles describing how to improve the control and it's looking more promising.
I think that I'll have a go using a BBSHD on an enduro frame, it's worth a try without spending a fortune. Thank you all for your input.
Thank you all for the input. I've exlcuded the Bafang entirely because it doesn't have proper torque sensing. I have lots of high powered Astro ebikes posing at bicycles, it's fun for getting around but it completely destroys the feeling of cycling through forests silently and without killing my...
Thank you for confirming my thoughts on this. Hopefully somebody that's ridden a Levo and an ascent could perhaps chime in on the merits and riding experience of the two. Does anybody have any experience with the new Ascent PAS system?
I've excluded the Bafang because as I understand the...
Hello all,
Firstly, thank you for the excellent ES community sharing knowledge and innovating so freely, we are all grateful.
I'm longing to build the perfect trail bike for attacking single track adventures. I have a few turnigy/Astro direct drive MTB and commuter
bikes under my belt which...
Very interesting, thanks for the link. The auto hall sensor learning feature is not something I completely understood until now.
The controller I have is the same board that the Lyen/EM3EV and e-crazyman sellers use as a basis for their controllers. I'm not sure what it's colloquially referred...
Hello Chaps,
I have a stuttering issue with a 6 FET Infineon EB306 controller, I'm wondering if somebody might have any insight into the cause. The symptoms are severe stuttering under load, but perfect operation under no load.
I've tested the motor (Astro 3220) and halls with a spare...
Thanks very much for the explanation crossbreak.
I haven't seen that spreadhseet you used for calculating chain forces before, looks excellent, is it available somewhere?
One question - do #35 and #219 chains work well at small tooth counts because the rise-fall time of the links is short due...
"9t bycicle sprocket will kill your final drive chain in minutes"
That's an interesting point - do you know why that is and is it a function of chain pitch? I'm working on an ebike with 10T driving a 32 tooth 1/2 x 1/8 chain which from your statement
is going to be a killer. I notice that #219...
Very impressive ! How is it that your rear freewheel and chain for that matter holds up to these power levels (and torque). Is your hub anything special?
Hi Roel,
Absolutely great execution, your fabrication looks very impressive. I've been thinking about rear belt drives for awhile now, the whirring noise a chain makes while freewheeling gets annoying after a while.
I'm guessing that you have a one-way bearing in the output gear to the...
Thanks Mike ! :D I look forward to seeing your bikes soon, especially with the 3 speed Rhs drive although even I'd feel a bit unsafe above 60km/h on a bicycle. It was however my original intention to go that route for which I ordered the TP packs freewheel adapter. After pedaling about with the...
