    I'm by no means an expert in this area but what wires are going in and coming out of the controller? A hub motor will need three phase wires for power at the very least and the controller will need to have two wires for the power coming in. Does the controller have five smaller wires coming out...

    Yes it does. They sold me a 52V battery with the controller. The controller I have is 25 amps but they have/had ones that went up to 40 amps iirc. If you have the money for it, the Phase runner is a great option.
