Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev!

On the Wiki page for the LEVCAN, there's this tidbit: Is this implemented? Which quantities are logged, and what is the logging frequency? One thing that frustrates me about the FOC controllers that I've worked with (PhaseRunner, Sabvoton) is that I know they're continuously collecting all...

Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev!

Wow, so much wrong in so few words. Talking out of your ass is fun until someone's heart goes into vfib.

    bluetooth BMS?

So... are you writing your own software?

    bluetooth BMS?

Do you mean number 5? It's groups 1-5 that failed. Regardless, what's the mechanism that causes this cascade? I think the management IC is the TI BQ76940, which is for up to 15s. These 15 are split into 3 blocks of 5, so it's plausible that a whole block failed somehow. Now to figure out the how.

    bluetooth BMS?

But could this result in the failure cascading through 5 groups?

    bluetooth BMS?

Yep, I scratched through the Kapton and measured across 1-5 on the electrodes. Dead, dead, dead. Balance wires (and their solder connection to the electrodes) look intact. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

AliExpress battery pack unboxing (for my eZuma project)

"One for all" is... a single pulse per revolution? Per phase cycle? I assume the first two are the usual connections direct from the motor, and "communication" is some unspecified UART/CAN/MODBUS/whatever interface. Wonder what "error type" could possibly be?

    bluetooth BMS?

Frustrating mystery from this weekend. Bottom line, 5/14ths of my pack is dead, and I don't know what it could be other than some BMS malfunction, although I haven't pinned it down. BMS is this one, 14s 30 A. I hadn't used my ebike in a couple months, although I connected via Bluetooth once per...

Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *PICS*

I'm using an SSC 72150 with a 14s battery and a QS 273 scooter hub motor. I'm really happy with my regen setup - enough slide regen to feel like engine braking on a gas bike, plus variable regen on a left-hand throttle. This has the feel I want and I almost never need to engage the mechanical...

Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev!

I think you're talking about charging directly from a PSU. The discussion is about charging through the controller. The PSU voltage needs to be well below the battery's discharge voltage. For 14s, you'd be safe with a 24 V PSU. 36 V would be pushing it. 54 V is much too high. Even if you could...

Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev!

As I understand it, the controller has exactly this function. I don't know if there is a limit to how much it can boost, though.

DC to DC converter have 3 wires for 48V+

You're on the right track. The converter has large capacitors at its input to smooth the power flow. If the unit has been disconnected and the caps are discharged, then the next time you connect it there will be a large inrush of current as the capacitors charge. If you do this by connecting a...

DC to DC converter have 3 wires for 48V+

If the controller is connected to the battery, and there is no "enable" line, then twisting the throttle (which is powered by the controller) will cause the scooter to go, regardless of whether the scooter is "on". How are the outside wires connected to the inside wires? Is it red-red...

DC to DC converter have 3 wires for 48V+

Not a lot to go on here, but my guess is that the yellow wire is switched by the ignition to activate the converter. Some controllers (Sabvoton, ASI BAC) have low-current battery-level inputs to enable the controller, so that's probably what the red is. This prevents operation of the vehicle...
