Zero motor 75-7 markings, red sticker, DANGER?

I bought a zero 75-7 motor and noticed some additional details on the housing. A red sticker, some permanent marker numbering and also, the "zero" part where it says "zero motorcycles" has been ground down. Does anyone have any insight into what these things mean? Was this motor used in some...

    1980 Yamaha SR250 with 75-7

Thanks for the suggestion about higher tooth count front sprocket. I wasn't aware that I might need a roller. So if I do my gearing with 14t front 45t rear I should hit 167 kph at 5000 rpm. Do you think I won't have enough torque with that gearing? The motor peaks at 55 kw... I just don't...

    1980 Yamaha SR250 with 75-7

I'm hoping to get some comments on whether my plan for this conversion makes sense or if I'm way off-base on anything. Goals: capable of sustaining ~140 kph ~120 km range (at average speed more like 110 kph) comfortable ride to enjoy some electric cruising with a passenger Components I have or...

DIY a compact high power charger

I'm hoping to build a compact charger to store onboard my e-motorcycle conversion. My pack will be something like 12 kwh. Even with a pair of 1000 watt meanwells (or meanwell clones) it will take ~6 hours to charge. I'm aware this is probably a stupid question, but: How difficult is it to...

Motors - state of the community

I do question the value of traditional university teaching in comparison to what one can learn from youtube. Why labour through an explanation when millions of people have already voted on the best and most clearly presented explanation? 3blue1brown is certainly easier to follow than my Linear...

Motors - state of the community

Thanks, I'll check for this! So far what I've found from google searches regarding motorcycle fairings is a bit discouraging. I found a few examples of fully enclosed "bikes" or dustbins but 1) I don't love the styling and 2) it looks challenging to do. I was thinking of trying "winglets" as...

Motors - state of the community

It definitely won't be efficient at that speed. I will need to cram as much battery as I can in it. As far as power required to go 87 mph, how did you get your number? My only point of reference is that a '09 ninja 250 is measured on a dyno to have 19.5 kw at the wheels and has a top speed of...

    Motenergy ME 1306 or equivalent

I'm looking for a reliable motor for my yamaha sr250 that can do ~18 kw continuous. Controller would be nice too!

Motors - state of the community

I am also trying to get a handle on this. I am doing an electric conversion on a 1980 Yamaha SR250. My wish is to be able to cruise at 140 kph. Seems the stock bike has an effective top speed around 110 kph and has about 13 kW available at the crank. I will need more power to get my 140 kph...

    Donor Bike Selection

Hello folks, I'm planning to start a motorcycle conversion and am already stuck. I can't make up my mind what kind of donor bike to start with. I don't want a sport bike. I want a comfortable riding position and I want to go on pleasant cruises through the country side with a passenger. To...

    Joby going public

I'm not sure that being all-electric is a big limitation. I think going from all batteries to hybrid isn't extremely challenging. I also think if they're all-electric right now, it's a strategic choice. Volocopter is all electric and they're moving forward with a 35 km range vehicle. Urban air...

    Can Tesla converted to diesel?

I think a small gas-turbine and some fuel would easily fit on a roof rack for a Tesla X. You can get about 10 kw from one, probably enough to run indefinitely off of that (i.e. not draining battery). Or you could opt for something smaller and just use it to re-charge if you don't need to drive...

    20 inch rim recommendation?

Hi folks, I recently took my folding bike belt drive for a 120 km trip and close to the end my rear rim sidewall failed. I suspect it was due to running 90 psi on rims that weren't intended for that. I want to replace the rim with something more durable but I'm a bit lost as to what rim to...

    Project Shoestring

Are you sure the frame will be strong enough? My guess is there will be a lot of stress concentrated where the frame is narrow right at the top inner corner of the battery box.

    Mid-Drive Folding Ebike Build

Thanks. It is 6x3 inch aluminum (outside dimension) with 3/16 inch wall thickness. The thick walls mean I can tap the holes and screw to the box directly. But I'm still not happy about the weight.
