    JP spot welder

Is there a list to buy one of these or do I just wait for them to be available? Thanks

What happens if phase wire is too small?

Is it just a risk of melting the wires? As you push more and more amps into the motor will the losses increase exponentially or something like that? For example will my losses be more or the same if I increase wattage from 2000 watts to 3000 watts, vs say 5000 watts to 6000 watts?

    Capacitor adhesive or glue

Would anyone happen to know what the white stuff is called in the controllers that hold down the capacitors (I swear I read somewhere that it had a specific name)? I searched it but didn't come up with anything specific. Some people say to use hot glue or gasket sealer but these are known to...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

Yes, I hooked it up and it runs normally. It was interesting how a short caused those resistors to quickly heat up to 300+ deg. Also to pull all the voltage down that much. I would think the 5 volt regulator would have limited power and not caused the 15 volts input to go down to only 3 volts...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

It works!. The reverse polarity did nothing, which I suspected as I only used a small strand at first to connect the battery. I guess I did that to act like a fuse as it is always scary to connect those wires especially the way I was temporarily rigging it. The strand did melt and burst, but...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

So upon further inspection what I think was causing the short was the halls negative wire could have been touching one of the three halls connections, blue green yellow. All the regen connectors do is open to activate and closed to deactivate. I tested with that again closed and it was fine...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

The resistor value is confirmed by Lyen to be 300 OHMS for 71-100 volts. My two resistors = 300 ohms together. The voltage drop across these 2 resistors is around 5 volts, or a drop from battery volts of 69 to 64 volts. The voltage drop when the resistors were overheating was 40 volts. So it...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

I was doing more volts checking and found something odd. Remember those blue resistors that have 300 ohms. Well they still have 300 ohms resistance. But the voltage drop is now only 5 volts! The 12 volts is now 15 volts. I just don't know what is going on to be honest. Why would the resistors...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

Odd. The voltages came back. I don't know what I did. I just pushed on those caps to check if they were hot, maybe probed some chips. Opened up the halls connector, but the only thing was the ground wire was loose in there, but it couldn't touch the +5 volts as that had heat shrink on it. Oh...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

So where do I go from here? The caps don't look to be shorted when testing for a short. I'm thinking it's a dead end without having another controller to compare voltages with. Should I jump 12 volt over to the 5V regulator?

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

Thanks for helping me guys. Even if I don't fix it at least I got a good lesson in electronics and circuit boards. I've been researching hours a day. So I did some more probing. The cap and resistor get 300 degrees hot in about a minute so I don't have much time. dumun: Those resistors are...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

OK I think a problem arose. I left the controller plugged in for 5-10 minutes and I went back to poke around. I then felt high heat coming from those resistors. Then I noticed that the solder holding that white wire on top of the resistor was starting to melt, it seems like the left resistor...

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

The volts measured across for the two blue resistors is 39 volts. The first (left) 100 ohm resistor is 13 volts across. The 2nd (right or burnt) is 200 ohms and 26 volts across. So it reduces the volts from 69 volts to 29 volts.

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

If the fets are not shorted, what would you do as the next step to check? I located the 5 volt voltage regulator.

FIXED::::I reversed polarity on controller. Please help,

If I try and measure any capacitor what happens is the resistance starts climbing. Sometimes it is falling. The value doesn't stay the same. But wouldn't I need to remove the capacitors? The standard FET test through the Negative battery connector to phases are all 9.8. From the Positive...
