Anyone else having problems with Champion Electric Bicycles?

Jeremy, Perhaps you can clear up my misunderstanding that this blog's owner is not commercial interests? According to another mod, Bigmoose's post at 8:08 pm yesterday that ebike.ca has 2 employees active here as an admin & a mod. Please explain why that is not "blog owner commercial...

What to do if you experience deleted or altered posts. PHOTOGRAPH your post as soon as the posting appears, as a mod may be waiting for you, delete happens real quik. Don't bother arguing on the offending blog (any privately owned blog), contact the gov privacy agency as it may be illegal...

Poll: Should Windsor Crack Down On Ebikes?

I'm in Ontario, cities can ban electric bikes, road use too. Yield to the foot traffic, leave the asphalt & ride the grass, you got the power. Ruff ride? Then slow down. Start the trail ban with earbuds. Include dogs as this leads to shit in the grass where I'm going to yield. Ban trail smoking...

    Bottom bracket thread repair?

The temporary solution is pieces of garden hose on the crank, held on by the peddle arms. Crank rides on bearing, works. As long as the crank arm bolts stay on I can fake it. The 3m glue costs more than welding.

Refurbished "SLA" with a special surprise inside

Fess up & tell us your purpose as you well beyond exaggerating. Are you an author? Don't know the technical so post in forums? Do you want help that won't blow your cover? You have had 3 experts on each topic contradict your claims: battery, power & canoes. Don't go away mad, tell us your...

    Bottom bracket thread repair?

Elmers Ultimate glue does not bond metal as claimed on the label. Moisture was used as directed. It has hardened everywhere as expected with its usual slight flex. Varsol cleaned surfaces, the glue failed between the metals, not failed from sticking to metal. 'llI look at this closer later...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

Sorry I don't understand electronic terms, what a word or term implies. I got it now. Thank you for your patience John. And everyone else.

    Bottom bracket thread repair?

I got the crank installed, not right but legal, it can be peddled. Have you ever installed a sealed bearing cup instead of a loose bearing cup? Glued it in as it will never get changed? So I adjusted out the clunk, expect resistance to increase as it can only wear wider. 3 bearing contact...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

JRH, I'm limited to eye adjustment, no tools to measure amps. I cannot adjust from outside, no access plate in the cover. So alignment will change slightly with cover & upper bearing in place. I keep trying to explain the brush contact variables. Does one brush contacting one plate & the other...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

Fechter, Thanks for your help. You are correct on the meter, only reads to 1.0 ohm on the 3.5 K ohm setting. Reads to 0.001 volts too. No decent amp meter yet. Do I set the brushes to only contact 1 commutator plate for each brush? I don't think it's in/out adjustment range allows spanning to...

    Bottom bracket thread repair?

Has the topic been addressed somewhere? Search gets BB drives. The problem is the BB tube is out of round. Both R & L bearing cones bind. There is no alternative to repair as all these swingarms have this problem. First observation is the tube is welded, has ridges & different hardness. I'm...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

Extra brushes is not the answer to this motors heating behavior. It's cause is brush position or it needs a smaller controller. Treating a symptom instead of the disease. The substitute controller(s) are JC-116, cheap. The last one lasted a year, until I broke off the throttle awhile back. So...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

I retested, plus another motor, both the same. 38 commutator plates. Brushes are 45". I cannot see the magnets or windings. Perhaps the brush position is set wrong, causing heating. I removed it to polish clean the commutator. You can see the variable in the photo. The brush width is slightly...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

Thanks for your help AW. I'll retest for continuity across the commutator plates. I may have misaligned as the brushes are out. Test another one also, with brushes. The dual brush holder pattern in the photo may be a standard sized part, used on other motors too. Its Chinese generic, you...

Brushed hub motor: 1 set of brushes verses 2 sets?

On this motor, the commutator plates have 0 resistance between any 2 plates, does not matter which plates, side by side, or opposite, or random. I expected a pattern before the test, conductive & non-conductive. Logic has flown out the window. Does this indicate a short? Can carbon powder...
