Help Needed to figure out how to remove wheels on unusual German (Draisin) Trike

I've not made any progress to update you on, I managed to borrow some pin punches but I haven't managed to get the pin out yet. The battery I bought for this thing has arrived, it's a 60v 20Ah thing intended for an electric scooter, I got it very cheap NOS.

Help Needed to figure out how to remove wheels on unusual German (Draisin) Trike

They are double sided plastic wheels - same both sides, a screw thread for mounting a freewheel on both sides. The axle is a solid bar, 18mm in diameter, the plastic wheels have a much smaller diameter hole, they had standard BMX axles in them, which are 8mm diameter if memory serves me...

Help Needed to figure out how to remove wheels on unusual German (Draisin) Trike

Aha, cheers, that is very useful. I also have a ton of those allen keys for the same reason. I was hoping to replace the wheels with some different ones so I can add disk brakes - this trike has just one brake, a Shimano rim type on the front, and as I'm going to put an electric motor on it, it...

Help Needed to figure out how to remove wheels on unusual German (Draisin) Trike

Hi folks Got some broken spokes on the rear wheels of one of my trikes so need to get the wheels off. However, they aren't held on by a nut or in any way I can figure out, never seen anything like this before. The hole in the side of the hub doesn't have a grub screw in it, it seems to be a...

    Controller with LCD display?

Hi folks The 48v 1000w controller that came with my hub kit has given up the ghost, dead. So I thought, instead of replacing it with an identical one, why not have an upgrade to one that has an LCD display. Just looking for some feedback from people who have owned and used these things before...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

That's a good point, I will most likely need shorter cranks, yes.

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

Thanks for that tip Chalo, I intended to run them at a soft pressure for a nice soft ride, so 35-40 will do fine for me.

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

Cheers Chalo, I'm not sure what I inflated these to, I'll check.

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

It would have been easier if the rims were a bit wider, these MC tires are really a bit wide for these BMX rims, but they seem to be fine now they are actually fitted. A very tight fit indeed, but once they were on, a nice feeling of achievement as my dad insisted they wouldn't fit as the rims...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

I'm working on building a bike for myself using 16 inch Michelin MC tyres on 20 inch BMX wheels. The wheels are copies of the Skyway Tuff, very solid and robust but the rims are not all that wide, 1.4-1.5", I forgot to measure them. It was really hard work to get the wheels onto these rims but...

Feedback on ebay mid drive kit?

Cheers Rassy, that's the type of feedback I was seeking. It did occur to me that having one of these units with it's exposed chain drives mounted on a bike was reminiscent of old motorcycles from the 1920s and earlier when they were basically bicycles with little motors bolted on.

Feedback on ebay mid drive kit?

Hi folks This 700w kit is quite cheap, anyone got any experience with them? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELECTRIC-BIKE-KIT-48V-60V-700W-BRUSHLESS-NEW-UPGRADED-MID-CHAIN-DRIVE-MOTOR-/131599453004?hash=item1ea3f04b4c:g:Ld8AAOxy5rpSTvvM The bafangs, being 250w don't appeal to me much, although the...

What are you guys building over the winter?

Finishing off last year's build. A Kona (maybe a Chinese knockoff) MTB with a Chinese '1000w' 48v rear hub. Battery is a DIY job with Samsung 26F pink 18650 cells recycled from NOS laptop batteries. 13s12p, 54.4v , 31Ah. The controller draws around 32A max so I am close to the desired 1C draw on...
