Hub motor under vacuum (in theory)

The coil generates the sound and the side plate amplifies it.

Hub motor under vacuum (in theory)

So I was thinking on this, if we can drill a hole to the side cover and then suck the air out. Since the motor is almost completely sealed, it wont take much time to improve the sealing. Ok, the first thing that sound can't travel in vacuum so, the motor would be quiet, if not completely...

    Yuyang king 40amp controller

Only the 3 speed switch is connected, I don't use the others. I think the controller doesn't support that high speed, but I don't know why, if the 72V version supports, why not the 120V version?

    Yuyang king 40amp controller

It's in high speed mode, and it's faster, the high speed ratio works, but can't be set over 15.

    Yuyang king 40amp controller

I'm having problems with my controller too, the calibration doesn't work for me neither, it gets the start distance, but nothing happens when I click obtain at the end distance. Model is YKZ12080EA, my friend has Ykz7280JA, so the only difference is the voltage rating, but he can set the high...

    Hub motor high frequency noise

I tried it, because today I was cleaning the covers and heard that frequency so I thought I should try the rubber. It made more quiet, it could be further improved by using epoxy for the coils to stick them together, but it was much easier. Anyway this motor has flat covers on both sides, but...

    Wheel size and torque

The new dropout is done, tested with 90A battery amp and 250A phase current. It seems to be okay. I don't use regen, since my final voltage will be 114V (117V when charged), and I couldn't find any controller which supports regen over 90V. So only the reverse could twist the axle to the another...

    Wheel size and torque

The bolts goes through the flanges (m6 bolts), but the smaller bolts (m4) at the spoke holes can't, because the holes are shifted, so I'll have to drill new holes, but I didn't want to ruin the motor. This was just a test wheel to see if the smaller wheel increases acceleration. This will be the...

    Wheel size and torque

I'm not planning to go off road, and I'm very skinny, so I measured and only 62 kg is applied to the rear wheel which is not too much. The "spokes" came loose at first, but I fastened down again and now they are holding up well. The peak wattage will be 10 kW, but I want to gradually increase...

    Wheel size and torque

I was having a few experiences with the same hub motor with different rim sizes and I found out the smaller the wheel, the higher the torque, but correct me at any statement if I'm wrong, I'm not an engineer or electrician, it's just my hobby. The efficiency should be better too, because at...

    Lithium battery question

The brushes were crushed, and was impossible to turn, so you are right. The cells survived, so the bms protected the battery pack after all.

    Lithium battery question

The BMS is unavailable, but it was a CLRD BMS 14s 60A rated. The brushed motor was a test, no load was applied at all, it didn't spin fast. It stopped for a short time, so I disconnected the battery and when I connected again it started rotating again and the BMS started to smoke. The motor's...

    Lithium battery question

I have a question about the BMS, but I couldn't find a straight answer. The BMS's rated current is 60A, but my controller is able to draw 100A. I don't think I'll ever use over 60A continous, because that means 6000W, and that would mean really high speed. But the 100A would be great when...

Hub motor high no load resistance

It sounds quiet when it gets up to speed, I think it's the thick magnets that makes it more noisy at low RPM. At higher RPMs it's so quiet. I'll see how it will perform under load, but I think it will have lot of torque.

Hub motor high no load resistance

5A at full throttle from 60V, which I thought is much, but my other motor draws 3-4 amps from 36V, so it's not much higher. As you can hear the video, it resonates much at low rpm, so the scooter won't be suitable for low speed riding. https://youtu.be/WtBzjTKIiNY I don't have a battery yet...
