Accelerated Systems ASI BAC 4000 & BAC 8000 FOC BT Controllers

A note on ASI warranty - their 1 year offer starts when a DEALER buys from them, not when the dealer sells on to the end user. I know this from personal experience of trying to sell their products and not getting support for controller failures (of which there were more than one).

how to program a sevcon gen4

Good work Arlo. Interesting you mention grounding problems resulting in encoder faults, it might explain some of the problems I've been having.

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Yes indeed - well worthwhile considering it turns regen braking from a bit of a gimmick to a useable brake system IMO. With a feature like this it becomes viable to have a variable regen setup linked to the physical brakes too..

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Excellent feature! I was wondering if anyone would ever implement something like this..

    Agni 111rdr

Batteries - depends how well you understand the risks - but assuming you need a small light pack, Lipoly is probably best/easiest/cheapest. Bike - lightweight and with easy battery storage space, and with an easy clean driveline to fit motor/chain/large sprockets.

Revolt new motor RV 160 Pro

Hi Miles, all good here thanks, I'm always happy when playing with a dyno, especially when it starts to get cold outside! Hope you're well and happy. We must catch up soon.. Do you want no load current measured motorside or batteryside? My RCL meter said that phase to phase resistance was 8...

Revolt new motor RV 160 Pro

I was told - "The KT of he 45KV motor is about 30(oz-in/amp)." I've got one here for testing (53kv), it might take me a couple of weeks to get my dyno set up properly (and dial in the Sevcon controller) but I'll post some results when I can.. -Steve

    Agni 111rdr

Simulator won't work for Agni motors ;) But yes - 60RPM per volt, 400A max, 220A continuous. Max temp at brushholder sensor 100C.

    Agni 111rdr

According to Justins simulator, 10kW would get you 70MPH - so a 5kW/h pack to do it for half an hour. And, 600A would melt your brushes in 3 seconds, continuous current is more like 220A. My advice, is if you want to use this much power and travel at these speeds - then convert a motorcycle not...

    Agni 111rdr

The 111RDR makes 60RPM/V, and can safely run at 6000RPM max - so something close to a 100V battery pack is required to hit full power. You'd certainly reach 75mph on a mongoose frame - though traction/wheelies would be a problem in something that light!

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

I'm not sure if you'll ever get sensorless mode to run on a geared hubmotor, though I confess I haven't tried very hard..

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Are you following procedures from this manual? http://www.ebikes.ca/downloads/BAC500_Controller_Manual_Rev%201.0.pdf Particularly page 42/43? Do you have it set to run on sensors - not the default setting to start with sensors then go to sensorless once the motor spins up? Are you saving the...

    Potting Batteries, Thoughts and Experiments

Interesting experiments Justin. I bet that garage still smells bad now? :D Several years ago I potted a small pack of A123 M1 cells so they could be inserted into the frame of a trike - I've used the pack sporadically ever since with no problems (just cells potted with BMS pigtails and power...
