Grin all-axle hub on a front suspension

I did and didn't find much with or without a hub-motor. Most of the stuff I did find relative to MTB had to do with individuals tuning for various scenarios that were generally associated with trail riding ... not riding on pavement where they judged "suspension" was wasted. I finally started a...

If you had $400.00 to spend?

I use an E-Bike for basic transportation ... mostly back and forth to the grocery store. I am not a 'real cyclist' ... the only reason it has pedals is because the State of Texas requires them to be classified as a "Bicycle".

I had a "where have you been all my life" moment this week...

I have been walking around on 'dead meat' (left foot) since that wee little freeze Texas had two years ago. Going to have to bookmark those.

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

Link away. The Revive bike is rather uncommon here in Houston but when I checked Craig's list in McAllen, Texas I found half a dozen used ones. That area is heavily populated by senior citizens (one reason I am moving there). The brake hanger seems to have worked out well but I noted last week...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

Thanks for the offer but I am about 18 months into this project and lights are way down on my priority list. I will get around to the 12 volts when I have resolved all the other 'gotchas' ... like the chain hop

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

LOL ... got rid of all the miscellaneous bicycle stuff I could find in preparation for my move. Only saved a few things that I thought I might use later on the Revive.

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

H'mmm ... interesting but I am not sure that it would work on the Revive's oversized 'elliptical' chainstay. Apparently they are no longer available although I did find one listed as 'Vintage' on Fleabay for $99 plus shipping. Another alternative that I found on amazon is: Amazon.com It has two...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

I managed to get back to the Revive for a few minutes and took lots of pictures. Think that I will try the simplest approach first: remove the tensioner and shorten the chain. I think that might give me enough 'wrap' around the rear sprocket to resolve the problem.

Need help on what bike to get (EU)

I am a bit confused (senility is a curse): So when you write "e.scooter" do you mean a step through motorcycle (like a classic Vespa) or a "sidewalk scooter" with tiny (relative to a bicycle) wheels ?

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

I tend to agree but I have too many irons in the fire at the moment. When I get resettled down south I will likely shorten the chain and remove the tensioner. I am not a fan of those things anyway however I thought that it would be a simple solution. If I have to have a tensioner, because of the...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

Being rather feeble minded, I tend to get the terms 'freehub' and 'freewheel' confused. Then I have to go look up the difference between them  Labeled Bicycle Hub Comparison-en.svg This is a cast aluminum wheel with a freehub that was converted to a singlespeed with a Gusset Double...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

Nope, not this tensioner (I thought of that). I believe I would have to remove the tensioner and shorten the chain ... with my luck that would likely mean switching to a half-link chain as well. If memory serves that is a 48 tooth chain ring in front. The 16 too cog in the rear gives me a 3:1...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

Once I finally got the BBS02 Giant Revive up and running, I had a bit of a 'clicking' noise coming from the rear single speed hub when under load. I am thinking that it might be the ratchet pawls slipping or the chain jumping. As I am not able to ride and observe at the same time, I decided to...

    Giant Revive BBS02 Mid-Drive

A bit of an update (13 Jan 2024). I finally got most of the running gear installed. I am currently using a Golden Motors LiFePO4 48 volt rackmount battery (I have the parts to build a Headway based battery) and I do not have the air-shock fork installed (don't think that I have the proper...

Expensive USA EV DC fast charging

Folks, there is one other factor involved: too many people on one small planet. More people with more places to go and more crowded highways and roads to get there. The world's population was an estimated 2.5 billion in 1950. Now it is over three times that and expected to top 8 billion this year.
