@technotony007 ... yes its a nice frame ... ally though ... bending the dropouts out for a wide rear axle would be nervewracking. Bafang / ebay / chinese mid drive stuff a long way out of my budget for this.
@HrKlev ... Hi ... no idea on weight yet ... will let you know when I get one...
Sooo...
Bought this on an impulse the other day - it was sitting in a garden I pass by regularly with a broken derailure hanger and the guy sold it to me for £50.
Replaced hanger.
Reset brakes.
Oil and rag.
There seems to be some sort of problem with the forks (could well be user error!)...
@Opener (for_solarsail) ... Thanks for the Video! Sorry for the time it has taken for me to spot your post!
Inspirational work ... novel design ... certainly.
Disruptive (in a good way) to the model of air transport (outside of GA) that is currently available?
Not yet due to range limitation...
A few charges done now.
The ISDT Q8 charger has my rows within 0.01 of a volt of each other so no need for further balancing.
This is a bit of a miracle, actually, because my packs are made up of second hand cells, and a pretty good mix at that.
In fact ... this has solved my problem...
Thanks Lew ... I hadn't seen anything like this up until now.
As things stand the m8 seems to be doing ok... I have yet to try the "calibrate" function which may improve matters.
This is what happens in the rain with those throttles from Voilamart... thing gets wet (short) and PoW! full WOT powah!!!
There may be a problem with that throttle ... try another.
Thanks LewTwo ... thought I had bought a sealed unit there so good news it CAN be dismantled.
A balance lead header is a good idea on the basis that if you balls up the connector it is a cheap and easy fix ... not so much if you break the cable header on the box itself!
Issue: On my 8s...
Thanks for the feedback, John.
The ISDT Q8 unit...
First problem ... non standard balance port header... standard JST cable won't fit.
My solution ... burn out the non standard blocks with a hot probe... then add a standard male/female cable so the port itself takes less abuse when the...
ToolkitRC M8 charger blew up (tiny pop noise then no function) yesterday.
Am now using the XL6019 board ^^ above + diode + voltmeter to charge the batteries.
Oddly quicker than charging with the now dead M8 ... approx 1/2 the time to 70% ish which brings me to about 4-5 hours for a charge for...
+1 ... wish I knew more. DIY ebikes are a steep learning curve - beyond my initial skill set by some margin.
Initially ... as the motor was 48v I went for 2x6s6p, with a pair of chinese BMS 6s.
The result was so bad it only went out once.
Removed the bms... went to 7s... still fairly poor...
I never leave the packs charging un-attended, and do not charge >75%.
Also an alarm clock set on 1/2 or 1/4 hr intervals so I regularly check the thing manually.
Also a fire blankey.
Also charge area is on a metallic sink. Problems? Push it into the sink, cover in fire blankey, extractor...
Nice solution Bob ... thanks. So these little gizmo boxes can balance larger batteries!
I was hoping that someone here was using the Overlander (8s) box ^^ above and could tell me how well it was.
On that note ... anyone using one of these below?
Cellpro PL8 PL6 308/3010/4010 2~8S Battery...
