    charging question re: parallel batteries

The seller indicates the BMS of the external pack will start balancing at 4.18V, not sure about the internal pack.

I fear no man. But that ...thing. it scares me.( Thunder dual motor).

You need to change the P7 setting to 5 if you want a "dead" start. On P7-0 yes it can be too much torque and overbearing, but changing it to its weakest setting should make it more palatable for you (and increase your range as well). (I own a Dualtron Spider).

Can I use my 36v motor with a 48v battery and controller?

Motors are rated for watts, not voltage. With that said, connecting a 13S battery with a controller that requests significantly higher amperage will result in sending significantly higher current to that poor motor which may not be able to handle it. Small increases in net wattage should be...

    charging question re: parallel batteries

You're right, after I take the charger off overnight on the external, multimeter shows the voltage to be 66.8V at rest, so that makes sense. I can't imagine the current transfer from one pack to the other of 0.4V to be all that statistically significant. Thanks for your response!

    charging question re: parallel batteries

Hi, I have a unique situation when it comes to my parallel setup. I have successfully paralleled two 17.5Ah 60V packs 16S 5P (Sanyo GA and LG MJ1 packs) and range has been dramatically increased (could easily hit 60 miles with a little tact on my Dualtron Spider). My question is that the...

    Discharge balancing on Parallel batteries??

Thanks for such a detailed response! Much appreciated. The only time I would be engaging in charging the external through the discharge port would be when I am trying to top off during a LONG ride. Given that I will be more or less using the 8A charger exclusively for this situation, I do not...

    Discharge balancing on Parallel batteries??

Thanks for the reply! I do think the BMS should support reverse voltage, as regenerative braking will result in that to occur. Not sure what the amp limit is. My plan wasn't to cut the charge off all the time, only when needed to charge quickly in a pinch when traveling long distances...

    Discharge balancing on Parallel batteries??

The simplest way to ask my question is, will I cause any damage if I charge through the scooter's charging port if I have both the internal and external paralleled? Would the internal battery connected to the scooter's charging port also be sending current to the external battery in parallel to...

    Discharge balancing on Parallel batteries??

I have attached what I am thinking, all lines will be 12AWG, with EC5 connectors all around which should be plenty to support the current I am looking to push. The reason I chose EC5 over say an XT90 is because it is much easier to solder multiple lines into the cup on an EC5 connector compared...

    Replacing the Dualtron EYE throttle

The finger trigger is simply a potentiometer, rerouting that to a thumb throttle should be a basic case of soldering lines between the existing dualtron throttle to that thumb as long as you know which goes where. The voltage range should be identical to avoid any rideability issues. You...

    Discharge balancing on Parallel batteries??

This question doesn't relate to an e-bike, but an electric scooter (Dualtron Spider) Hi, I was reading through the sticky in regards to parallel battery setups, and my plan is to run two 16S5P packs (one pack is LG MJ1 with 10 cycles and is internal to the scooter, and one pack is Sanyo GA...

    Top Speed on Chinese kickboard?

Thanks for replying! I would still think dual motors drawing 70 amps total from the battery should be able to attain something even remotely close to the advertised speeds; I see there is an American reseller called NANROBOT that is selling the exact same scooter (specs or otherwise) as the...

    Top Speed on Chinese kickboard?

I forgot to mention, the advertised max speed is 90 KMH according to the seller.

    Top Speed on Chinese kickboard?

Hi, I purchased a 60V 3200W kickboard from Alibaba (Puai T11B) which isn't doing the advertised speeds. Specs are: Dual motor brushless 1600W x2 60V 33.8Ah Li-ion battery 35A controllers x2 88lb net weight On a long flat stretch, the best I could get this to is around 41 MPH (66 KMH). With...
