CHEAP NEW ORIGINAL 18650 21700 BATTERY CELLS, POUCHES AND PACKS

Anyone know other ways to contact tumich? I've sent some PMs because I'd like to purchase some cells, but I think he's not getting the notifications and he hasn't responded for a couple weeks.

Vesc limiting power in sensored mode

I've never seen a difference that big, but a while back I noticed a similar problem. I'd been having motor cogging problems when the VESC switched between sensored/sensorless during acceleration. I played around with the sensorless ERPM value. I found that forcing the VESC to remain in sensored...

    cheap active cell balancers

I have a similar active balancer, but the 4s version. I stuck it on a 3s lipo that was out of balance and it was balancing it, no charger connection needed. This would have been at more like 3.5V/cell. It did the job, but I think it only balances to within 0.1V.

How about a 3D printer section?

Take a look at these holders. It's a parametric design where you can customize how many cells the holder should have, what size they are and much more. This design started here on the ES forum but it's been extended quite a bit, it can even generate matching covers and boxes.

    A Small 6 fet Vesc 6 Design

Windows update might not be finding new drivers, but there's a chance they're still out there somewhere. I found a forum post with a link to the driver: https://www.tenforums.com/graphic-cards/157576-working-driver-mobile-intel-gma-4500mhd-windows-10-a.html But it's hosted by a third party, so...

    A Small 6 fet Vesc 6 Design

Can you update your GPU drivers? OpenGL 2.0 came out a long time ago, hopefully there are updated drivers available for you. It might help to know what laptop model you're using.

    92 micra project

 It's funny seeing this here, I saw this truck for sale on craigslist and considered buying it, but I wasn't sure how practical it would be to drive. Good luck with your project, it would be cool to see this thing rolling again under it's own steam.

    How do fast chargers work?

Yeah, it could have been poor contact or some other issue, but bad wires are still possible. I've had test leads with 24 AWG copper inside. A 3 foot set of those would be in the ballpark to drop 0.5V when you factor in contact resistance as well.

    How do fast chargers work?

It's not false, it's basic electronics. How about you provide some kind of reasoning or proof before you go around mistakenly telling people that they are wrong?

    How do fast chargers work?

I'd recommend getting some better leads for that power supply. If the power supply is putting out 4.2V and 2.5A, yet the voltage at the cells is still 3.69V, that voltage difference is being wasted in the wires. With better wires you'd be able to put out higher current with the same 4.2V setting.

Hacking EV BLDC Motor Controler Protocol

I don't know what the protocol is, but I would hook up a USB UART adapter to the display and start sending it some data to try and figure out how the protocol works. In the captured data you have 0x5A and 0xA5. 0xA in hex equals 1010 binary, 0x5 would be 0101. These values are commonly used to...

File attachments pruned - let me know if you see missing images.

Thanks for looking into that. I really like the idea that Xenforo can preserve external images. That would have been really useful when ElectricGod nuked all the images in his posts...

Server having problems sending out emails.

I doubt this is a viable solution, but it's what I use for my self-hosted stuff because my ISP doesn't allow any email sending. I just created a gmail account to do the mailing and set up my scripts/software to use the gmail account when they need to send out mail. It works for my small scale...

    3D Printed Cell Holders

Time for another update! My partner Albert put a lot of work in recently to fix some bugs and add new features. You can get the latest files here: https://github.com/Addy771/Hex-Cell-Holder or https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3029966 You can now generate box models in a parallelogram shape...

How about a 3D printer section?

I think it would be nice to have a 3D printer section. I don't think forum threads with tens of pages that you have to dig through are a great way to share information. I also don't really see a problem with a slightly inactive forum section. It's just another bit of text for people to scroll...

What wire to use as a fuse wire?

Check out the table here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge It has some columns that tell you the fusing current for various sizes of copper wire. I bought some tinned 30 AWG wire for this purpose. Used it to make a battery pack a couple years ago for a portable TV. Just...

    Hubmonster teardown

That's right. Calculating battery power works alright to get the approximate motor power, but it would be less accurate if field weakening is involved. This is because part of the battery energy is being used to weaken the motor magnets instead of directly moving the motor.

    Hubmonster teardown

What the controller reported is fine. You then did some incorrect math and came up with bogus numbers. Not a big deal. Next time just use the correct method that has been explained several times: Motor Power = Battery Voltage * Battery Current This ignores losses in the controller, but they...

Heat from amps, but what of watts?

You keep saying this, but you need to get that idea out of your head. It's not true. Pay attention to what people have already explained several times: Power = Voltage * Current
  24. A

    Hubmonster teardown

This is incorrect. Motor watts should be phase amps * motor voltage. Motor voltage is not something we typically have easy access to. Phase amps can be higher than battery amps. Using your calculations, motor power would be higher than the power provided by the battery - clearly impossible.

Heat from amps, but what of watts?

100W = 100W, the heat is exactly the same. Power dissipation is the product of current and voltage. P = I * V Ohms law tells us that V = I * R. That's how you can rearrange power dissipation to get the equation P = I * I * R. Just because you don't see the "V" doesn't mean it's not there...
