New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Also, my system refuses to remember the assist setting. I have to lower it to 8 every time I start the bike and it reset to 9 after a power cycle. I also had a weird issue where my other bike (not the one that's amnesic about assist setting) just reset itself. I parked it for the day and when I...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

One of my TSDZ2 started making a clanking noise when pedaling. I have replaced the pedals themselves (in case the bearings in them were worn) and checked the cranks are tightly fastened to the TSDZ2's shaft, but the noise remains. Any idea what it could be? I hope it's not the bearings in the...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Yes that’s probably a bit extreme for that motor. I run mine with at 25kmh cutoff in a very hilly area and keep a cadence in the 90s, I have yet to do anything about the glue gear after about 2500km. I’d either slow down or accept that you’ll have to replace the gear often.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Some lowlife scum stole the lights off both ebikes last night. Therefore, we need new ones. What’s the current preferred wired in lights that work with the TSDZ2? Budget is about 150 eur for front and back lights per bike. They need to be visible during the day too. We had light and motion...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks. Do you mean the silver ring that requires the special (supplied) tool to fasten/unfasten?

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Both our motors developed a squeaking noise when pedaling. It feels like it’s coming from the left crank but it’s hard to locate because it only happens on the road under load and never in the stand. I tried reseating and retightening the crank arms but no change. Would anyone know what...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Neat. For those who don’t, I found one seller on aliexpress that had this part. He was the only one at the time (about 18 months ago). Seller name is ejoyqi.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So I have, and my problem is not that the axle wobbles (it doesn't); it's that the spider does. I tried untightening the five screws: wobble and rubs. Tightening: wobbles and rubs. The only "fix" I can think of is to add washers between the spider and the rest of the motor so that there is...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Same here, 1500km, mostly on roads, some on gravel. Nothing outrageous, max speed around 25kmh, and I’m not heavier than the next rider. And yet, it rubs. Would appreciate any tips to fix this issue. Applying grease didn’t help after a few kilometers and the grinding sound is still there.

Ugh. Did you find a fix/mitigation?

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My motor started making grinding noises only when I’m pedaling. If I stop pedalling but the wheels keep turning, no sound. So I removed the spider and it looks like it rubs a tiny bit on the motor body… I wasn’t able to fix it (all screws are tight) and all I could do was apply some silicon...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I would get a replacement cover. They don’t cost much (I think I paid 15$ delivered for mine on aliexpress) and then you don’t have to worry about whether the plastic is properly fixed or whether water/grime will seep into the main gear chamber.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Bummer. I was considering an Alfine (but the one with less gears, I think 7?) but I guess I won’t. AFAIK shimano also makes a beefier nexus 5 for their ebikes, maybe that one would work and handle the torque.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Looks very neat. I have a Kona with internal routing, but how did you thread the cables through? I'm guessing you have to cut the plugs off and resolder on the other end, but the cables themselves are much thicker than the gear shift cable that originally went in the hole. Did you get custom...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

You need to upgrade the firmware. 0.6.5 had similar issues, the motor would fail to init properly once in a while and make a horrible noise. Had to restart it several times before it went away. This has been resolved in later firmware versions, so you'll need to bite the bullet and upgrade. On...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Stupid question, but… did you try with assist level > 0? Asking because I did that mistake myself the first time, I didn’t realize it defaults to assist 0 after flashing.

TSDZ2: Where to get replacement X seal that goes around the main gear?

I inquired around and found a seller that has it. They even used my picture in the listing: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002708658531.html It's not cheap though, I paid over 20 USD incl. delivery... But like you said, it's an essential part and it's hard to find.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Anybody knows where to get a replacement X seal, the one that goes around the main gear behind the plastic cover? Mine broke a while back and I thought I could live without it but I looked inside recently and some grit made it in. This is the seal I’m after:

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I dont understand what you’re asking. If you’re asking if you can convert the 850C and TSDZ2 that have factory software over to OSF, then yes it’s possible. Just note you can’t ever put the 850C back to factory software because it can’t be dumped and isn’t publicly available.

TSDZ2: Where to get replacement X seal that goes around the main gear?

Somehow, my X seal, the one that goes behind the crankset and behind the plastic cover, around the main gear got mangled. I thought I could live without since I couldn't find a replacement, but a year later, I see a lot of grit has made in inside the gear and when comparing with another motor...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Yeah I have the same on 1.1.0/1.1.1. It's not as bad when you're riding and if you push just 1/8th of a turn the motor will spin less. In practice, when you're riding, you notice that it spins a bit when pushing the pedals (for instance, approaching a red light and downshifting, have to turn...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

It’s a big gap between 10 and 45 and 70. I’d suggest using weights in between these values and getting rid of the 5kg measurement as it’s too close to the 6kg. Whatever value you get is what you put into the firmware. Everyone has widely different values and that’s why calibration is...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The throttle works well (with the temp sensor physically disconnected. Because of that and the fact that 850C + 1.1.{0,1} + temp sensor works well for everyone else but for me (also tested on 0.6.5), it HAD to be a bad connection somewhere and not a software bug. Luckily, I had put the temp...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

None of it makes any sense. I had a look again, and I'm hooked up for GND onto the display's GND. 5V and throttle as per the wiki picture. When I unhook the temp sensor from the motor and measure it with an external 5V and a multimeter, it reads 239mV which is pretty much the room temp (23C)...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The room temp is around 23 degrees, but the sensor reads 42C. It's still below the 75/85 limit though but the reading doesn't match the temperature.
