Is a 50KW Out Runner motor any good for a retro street motorcycle?

Hi, good to find another thread mentioning the SIA-500, I've been checking it out, one thing that seems odd is that the breather valve will be upside down if the sprocket is closest to the swingarm, I mailed them and they've advised that the breather needs to be on top, which makes sense...

    Street legal Cafe Racer build.

Thanks, sounds promising, I’d thought it maybe complicated and expensive to cut (based on zero to no real experience!) my measurements were way off also, I had the inner diameter at 16 and the spine width at 5mm, appreciate the help!

    Street legal Cafe Racer build.

Really enjoying following your progress! I'm looking to find a way to mount a Gates pulley to the QS180 shaft, I'm getting some steel interfaces cut that will sit between a pulley taper bushing and the shaft, though not sure if this will be the best approach, sendcutsend are unable to accurately...

I've been trying to build something in Fusion360 that would fill any shape with cells, that'll be finished in about 10 years from now ;) There is this one (kindly shared on the Electric Dirt Bike Open Source Design Discord) Lithium Battery Pack Designer - Cell Saviors there's also this pack...

    crf450r 45kw race bike build

Thanks, I'd gotten this silent chain set up cheap from Ebay to see if it could be used, and had forgotten about it when I knew I could use Gates belts and pulleys, the splines in the Polaris sprockets look the same as the KTM sprocket I have. I guess if I can find a machine shop that can...

Think I just found a matching one, the Polaris XC700 looks like it's the same spline pattern

Hi, do you have any details of what snowmobile the shaft was from? I'm trying to track down something about 10" long that a KTM sprocket will fit on. thanks

Electric Motorcycle - Where to start?

Hi, I've been seeing what I can use for the jackshaft set up, and seems like I should be able to go with Gates 8m 21mm Carbon belt and pulleys, think I've figured a way to mount the pulleys, rfndzc advised that I can just use one of the QS180 splines with a key Belt drive conversion on honda...

That'd certainly make life easier if it can take the load, it's 20mm diameter

T Thanks, sendcutsend can cut 0.5", so maybe less prone to warping, something like this maybe.

Honda CB350F rebuild, belt drive and other upgrades

The QS180 has 6 splines, and the useable depth below the clip recess is 10mm, I've been looking for a weld on adapter that fits this pattern, the one I got from the UK is KN16x20 but the female splines aren't wide enough, so was considering cutting steel rings to go between the splines and...

Honda CB350F rebuild, belt drive and other upgrades

Not sure if this is feasible or not, is it possible to get steel disks welded on top of each other? for a pulley adapter I was thinking about designing something to interface between the motor shaft and pulley, draw up the design, then get sendcutsend to cut a few of them from steel, then stack...

Honda CB350F rebuild, belt drive and other upgrades

Where were you looking at for sourcing the poly chain stuff? I'd been trying to figure if a 30mm 8m HTD would be strong enough for motor to jackshaft, if possible I'd rather have 21mm, if poly chain will be stronger than HTD, I'd be spending $ trying to make a 30mm pulley fit the QS180 shaft, so...

    NCR2170M Cells?

Thanks, that website does seem pretty random! appreciate your insight/experience into welding aluminum, that's enough to make me steer away from getting these, plus the lack of specs. I'll probably end up going with Amorge any way, I've built packs for skateboards and bikes, but nothing as big...

Hi, has any used or know of NCR2170M cells? there's a bunch of used (not cycled) ones for sale, a couple of questions; - could they be called something else? the only specs I can find for NCR2170M are here https://www.batemo.com/products/batemo-cell-explorer/panasonic-ncr2170-m/ - and they...

QSMOTOR,0.5-12kW Electric Hub Motor & Mid Drive Motor Manufacture China

Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to remove the motor shaft from a QS180? i'm wondering if replacing the shaft with a longer keyed shaft of the same diameter would be possible, as it'd make fitting a pulley a lot simpler and possibly having an outer support bearing to even out the load.

    Yamaha YZ250F

Thanks for sharing the details, I'm going to see if I can track down drive pulleys that may fit and would be strong enough, snowmobile quick drive pulleys, belts and shaft look promising, would need to modify the motor pulley to fit the shaft.

    Yamaha YZ250F

Hi, Thanks for sharing, how are you finding the jackshaft set up you have, anything you would change? I’ve got the QS180 and trying to see if a belt pulley could be put on the motor shaft, if not I guess it’ll have to be sprockets and a chain, but would rather a belt for less noise, and less...

Electric Motorcycle - Where to start?

Thanks! I'm still not 100% sure if I have the custom motor settings correct, will be digging into J Bjork's posts to compare what they'd used. Is it the case that motor torque starts decreasing once the supplied voltage reaches half the battery voltage, or did I dream that? if it is true...
