    Extension cable for Grin Satiator?

I have a Grin 36v Satiator and would like to mount it on my garage wall. However my bike would be about 20 feet away from the charger. The charger uses cables with XLR connectors BTW. Does anyone know if it is OK to any microphone cable that has XLR connectors with the the charger? The manual...

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

Got this reply from Grin. Apologies for the difficulties, let's try and get to the bottom of this. I see you've set the CA throttle mode to 'bypass' - can you confirm if the cutout problem still persists in this mode? Assuming it does, I'm guessing we have a controller issue. I see in your...

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

I disconnected the PAS cable, ran it using throttle only and it still shuts off after five seconds. WTF... Will try reloading the SW for the CA and Baserunner.

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

I am not sure how I could do this; You have established the torque sensor is providing power with 'low force' to the pedal. You need to increase force on the pedals either by hand or by foot with the rear wheel elevated to impart greater force to the pedal to get the bike to shut down...try to...

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

The battery is fully charged. I did it a few hours ago using a Grin Satiator. The CA screen does not shut off when the motor dies. I used the Phaserunner software to see if the Baserunner showed any faults. The DEV tab shows these but of course I have no idea what they mean: ADDR 299 Faults 2...

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

Baserunner Low voltage cutoff (start) is 19.5v. Low voltage cutoff (end) is 19.0v. Cycle Analyst Low voltage cutoff is 29V. The above were the installed factory settings and the manuals say these are the best settings. The battery is 36 V Li-ion, series cell count 10 S, 19.3 AH.

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

1 I am not sure but will find out. 2 Today I put the bike on a repair stand and cranked the pedals by hand. The PAS ran fine. Then I put the bike on the ground and after riding it for 5 seconds the motor stopped.

Shengyi SX1 motor stops after 5 seconds when riding but the motor runs ok when I hold the wheel off the ground

Recently I bought a "kit" from Grin and added them to my Bike Friday New World Tourist. Rode it a few times and loved it. Last week I went to go for a ride and the motor stopped after about 5 seconds. Restarted the the Baserunner and tried riding again and the motor cut off again. So I...

Science of cycling still largely mysterious. No one knows why bikes stay upright

It also turns out that no one is really sure why planes stay in the air either. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/no-one-can-explain-why-planes-stay-in-the-air/#:~:text=The%20theory%20states%20that%20a,or%20flat%2C%20symmetrical%20or%20not.

Science of cycling still largely mysterious. No one knows why bikes stay upright

I found these very interesting. Science of cycling still largely mysterious; CBC News "Their basic mechanics are understood, but there are many questions about the physics of bikes. "It's as simple as riding a bicycle" is a common expression. But the science of staying upright on two wheels is...

Considering build - 20" folding bike

I have had a Bike Friday New World Tourist since 2001 and it is my only bike. It rides just as well as any bike I have ever owned but it was not cheap either. I converted it to electric with a kit from Grin Tech and so far love it.

How do you store your batteries safely indoors?

I did buy a Satiator from Grin which will give me a lot of peace of mind. I will only charge it when I am awake as this makes a lot of sense. Thanks all for the replies!

How do you store your batteries safely indoors?

Thanks! I did not even know what BMS until you mentioned it and then I looked it up. Looks like I bought a good battery. I do have some large metal boxes that I could use. And I also have two Ryobi 40v batteries that I need to store in the house and could put those in metal boxes also. Maybe...

How do you store your batteries safely indoors?

I recently bought a kit from Grin Tech to electrify my Bike Friday New World Tourist. Since I live in Michigan where it goes below freezing sometimes for weeks I will need to store the battery indoors during the winter. The battery is a 36V 19.3 Ah Panasonic NCR21700A and is 365x95x100 mm...

    Grin TorqArm V2 install question

Thanks all for the replies. I wrote to Grin and here is their answer. Adjust the tabbed washer so that the tab sits at the bottom of the dropout. The flat washer should sit between the dropout and axle nut. The C shaped one you only need to use if your bike has lawyer lips, and that would...

    Grin TorqArm V2 install question

Assembling my kit from Grin on my Bike Friday New World Tourist and am stymied at the TorqArm V2 install. The motor, a Shengyi SX1 came with three washers, two of which are the ones with tabs that go in the dropouts. I have one tabbed washer in the dropout as seen in photo 1. Near as I can tell...

Bike Friday NWT - will the Grin PAS_24P fit bottom bracket?

Going to get a Grin kit for my Bike Friday New World Tourist and want to put a PAS on it. Does anyone know if the PAS_24 will fit the bottom bracket? I wrote to Bike Friday asking this but got a vague answer. I would assume it is square but I don't have a tool yet to pull off the crank arm to...
