    Electric Miata/MX5.

Hi guys, A lot of you wanted to see the car we put together last year - so here you go! I've been putting off taking pictures till the car was more "finished" - but as it's my daily testbed that day is likely a long way off! So - please excuse all the wires and sensors strapped here and there...

    New Agni Racing motor 111RDR

I've recently recieved some new motors from Agni, designed for higher efficiency under higher loadings and thought I'd introduce them here. I've been having great fun testing these on the dyno, and have found them to be more than capable of 15KW+ continuously. They have been prepared with double...

    New LifeBatt cell 14AH.

LifeBatt are bringing out a new cell early next year, looks like a 40% increase in capacity is on the cards! I hear testing is going well, and the test discharge curves I saw looked very promising, with a 5C discharge yeilding just shy of 14AH at average voltage around 3v. Timing couldn't be...

    Team Hybrid 35mph wheelchair!

Since we dont have an electric handcycle section here yet, I'll post this here. This is Mark Higgin of Team hybrid aboard his 35mph wheelchair. It certainly turned heads to see it on the road....but better still was following him round the famous Goodwood race track on Sunday! He didn't slow...

    Spares for BMC hubmotors?

Hello guys, I'm trying to repair Deecanio's old BMC hubmotor and wondered if parts were available? It has eaten the small needle bearing and its fibre rollerholder.. Thanks, Steve

Metal gears for the puma in!

Hi all, heads up, Mark has steel gears in at teamhybrid. I forget exactly how much he said they cost, but it was nice and cheap. Contact him direct for more info

New Puma motors on the way to teamhybrid

Hello all, Just got word from Mark, who wanted me to let you all know that the new puma's are on the way in. Thees still one last "teething" problem, in that the spoke flanges are a little too centralized on the hub, so users with 26" wheels and tight frames may not be able to dish the rim...

    New KMX video...

Well, I finally found a way to mount a camera onto the kmx, using a tripod with some cable ties and gaffa tape, so made a dash out in the sunshine to test. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NynnKJujqcw Just a short trip from the workshop back home, top speed was 35mph. The trikes running a 74v pack...

    Controller stopped limiting the current?

Hi guys. Got a new and interesting fault developed, the controller (20A72v model modded with variable limiting) seems no longer to care how many amps the motor wants to get up to speed. Drainbrain shows 95A max (fuse blew almost instantly, but DB logged 95). I replaced the fuse and gave it a...

    G-force meter.Almost as good as a dyno:)

Just got hold of one of these http://www.escortradar.com/gtimer-specifications.htm . It measures g-force, and can do timed runs and 0-30 or 1/4 mile etc. Ran the kmx around a bit playing wit the different features, and came up with these measurements. 0-10mph 1.85 secs 0-20mph 4.52 secs...

    Temperature cutout for the Puma

Fixed a thermostat in there, whilst changing the stock phase wires out for the thickest I could squeeze down the axle. I'll rig it up to the relay that cuts voltage (the 66v/33v), so that when it comes on I'll feel it immediatly, but wont be stranded in the middle of traffic:)

    Cargo Trike Project

Hi all, Just picked this cargo trike up on Ebay. Looks like it will be one hell of a conversion, although the shell is nice, the drive chain and brakes are about as bad as can be. No gears, and useless lever operated front brakes, and a "horseshoe" brake on the back (piece of leather that get's...

    Puma/KMX trike at 82v A123

Hi all, just got back from a very fun test drive on the newly rebuilt (4th time in 4 weeks!) KMX. It now sports 25 A123 cells in series, 3 paralell, giving 82.5v. Amazingly at 30A the pack voltage drops just 2.5v :D (6.6AH pack!) No load speed is 52mph (24" wheel), and on the road it will pull...

    Impressed with A123

Yay, after a month of waiting for bits, I finally dropped a 4.2KG pack of A123's into the KMX trike  Simply amazing, only 3 cells in parralell and it can put out 30A with only 2.5v voltage sag! The trike feels like a different beast (I took out 14KG of NiMh to make room for the A123's...

    A123 dead cells?

hi all, i've recently been buying up Dewalt packs online, and so far have 3 packs here (4 more in the post). All 3 packs so far have 1 dead cell in them. (I've tried reviving them, but they wont hold more than about 1AH no matter what, and 1 of them just heats up when you charge it). The packs...

    Controller identifaction/wiring?

Hello all, I've got a "twister" folding electric bike here, with a brushed motor, and an unwired controller. I've got no idea how it should be wired up, the tags on the controller connections mean nothing sensible to me. Anyone seen these before, or have any idea how to wire it? Pinouts read...

    Screaming motor...

Hello all, After last weeks blowout of my 408, I rebuilt the motor with the magneto from a 4011 in the casing of the 408. It seems to fit Ok. I took it out for a spin today,(since ther guy building my Puma wheel has still not got it sorted  ), and all went well for a while, untill it...

    Dead Xlyte 408...help?

Hi all, this weekend I finally murdered my old faithfull 408. After many stop/starts and a few hills on a hot day it overheated badly, and as pulling into my drive it started making a high frequency clicking sound (too high freq to be caused by the hubs revolutions, and related to throttle, not...

    KMX v Powabyke Video.

Hi all, NickF came along today, with his camera and a van full of e-bike bits, and we hastily turned his bits into a bike and video'd the results. Today's project featured an old Powabyke Nick had picked up, which we went ahead and converted to 48v 30A (from 36v 20A). A little boring at...
