thanks Amberwolf, i guess i will just have to give it a try and see how it goes. this is not my first rodeo but i have never tried R/C motors on a e-bike.
i have an outrunner project waiting in the wings using a 6384 - 120kv (sensored) motor. i will be using 20inch wheels with a 10:1 single reduction. would a 36v 20a controller give me enough power? not looking to go fast, 20-25mph is fine.
Hi, I have been lurking around on here for 9 years and have finally got one of my projects up and running! its rather "old school" compared to the latest technology but works fine.
BEFORE.
AFTER
its a 24v 250w running on 36v it does 19mph on the flat and 25mph with pedal assist. still...
i have a 9-15 volt (adjustable) psu with a 30amp max capability. i plan to cycle each brick a few times on a small 120w scooter before assembling a paralleled pack.

hi all, i have decided to play with fire but dont want to get burnt! i am about to charge my first lipo pack (6s zippy 5000mah 25c pack) heres what i have:-
the overall voltage is 23v (3.84v per cell) i would like to charge to (4.1v) should i balance charge? how many amps? sorry to be a pain but...
Hi All,
finally sorted the problem, i just cut into the 4.3 volt throttle input wire and added 3 diodes in series. works a treat, maximum speed is now around 5mph. my youngest grandson loves it! :D thanks for all your help.
C.D
ok there are 3 wires to the throttle (red +5v) (black common) (blue speed signal) i think? which wire should i put the potentiometer in and what value resistance?
C.D
Thanks guys,
i think the potentiometer solution will be best, i know they will want to go faster but they still need to be safe while they get their confidence.
C.D
yes its 24 volts with a 250 watt brushed motor, i dont think 12 volts alone will be enough for the controller? it is currently capable of 15mph, way to fast for small children.

Hi All,
i have aquired a razor pocket rocket for my granchildren but it is too fast for the youngest ones, any ideas as to how i can slow it down to around 5mph but speed it up again for the older ones? some sort of adjustable ohms pot im guessing?
C.D
i take your point on the safety of the left crank drive but i dont want to pedal the motor, maybe a duel freewheeling righthand crank would solve the problem. this bike is just for fun and does not need to be fast, should be a big hit with my grandchildren.
