What sort of connectors do you use on brake levers and throttles?

The only downside to unsealed connectors is corrosion and shorting in rain.

What sort of connectors do you use on brake levers and throttles?

    > you shown non-weather proof connectors easly penetrated by water. I wish controllers came with waterproof connectors!

What sort of connectors do you use on brake levers and throttles?

Right now I have two types of connectors that I crimp, but I'm kinda out of following the forum every day. Am I missing a popular connector? This is what I have now. The white ones were a PITA to source since they don't have an OFFICIAL name.

I built an ebike throttle and brake tester

5v meanwell panel voltmeter from ebay speak spring terminals from ebay EZ PZ. Brakes go from 0v-5v on-off Throttles go from 0v-5v in a sweep (oddly the off position with throttles has been between .6v and .9v - i didn't realize that was the case) I built this rig to test the 100 lbs of...

    Golf Cart frame shocking me

Sorry the 8ma wa from the leds in the taillight lighting up when i connected the DMM and it completed the cicuit to the battery. lol no joke. I didn't notice it because this is a cart with a bed that was up and covering the light. Here is a pic of this 4x4 cart Here is a pic of front hubs

    Golf Cart frame shocking me

Ooook An led taillight was shorted from its ground to the metal frame of the car through a mounting bolt rubbing the led pcb. The light is 12v light so why is it getting 40v? Well the voltage drop from leds explains the 40v from 48v. The 48v is coming through the SOC meter which is tied to...

    Golf Cart frame shocking me

Cleaned off batteries to test brush dust hypothesis. Frame still putting out voltage. 40v from B- to frame (pack voltage is 48v) If I ground to frame, voltage drops to 0v. And then immediately returns to 40v when I remove short. Short is pulling 8ma from frame to B- That cruiser is...

    Golf Cart frame shocking me

It's on ALL of our carts from this manufacturer, so I don't think it's a short. Battery pack ground Can't remember. Will check tomorrow. I need to try this tomorrow. If it's a leak, couldn't I just connect a resistor to the frame somewhere from ground? Good to see you're still kicking...

    Golf Cart frame shocking me

Ok. So the frame shocks me and displays voltage on the meter. I can't seem to find any direct connection to the 48v system. Normally I wouldn't care but the car has fried 3 after market controllers and navitas has stated that it is most likely because the car has a short or is frame grounded...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

Here is a video on my instagram of the car in action. Wet floor, front wheels chocked. No problem smoking tires. https://www.instagram.com/p/BJTg_Vcj_0H/?taken-by=shelby_electro Very fun cart to drive. Our carts are already the fastest and quickest production golf cart (when compared to...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

Did the dash today. All I'm doing for this weekend is a low/high speed switch, FnR, power, and run/tow. In the future I'll install our stereo system, our street legal lighting system, and whatever cool features we want. Wired up the batteries and controller yesterday. We are using an "80v"...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

Got the contactor and controller installed today. Still need to wire it up. Which will be fun im sure. Contactor is big. 10 lbs? Just found out car show is the 20th. I dont think ill have time to do the blinking leds in the hood. I dont think ill have much free time till then.

Custom hood scoops. Not my design or work but very cool. I plan to tie orange leds to the throttle and make them blink in sequence inside the scoops. I need to figure the easiest way to do that. Oh well was looking for an excuse to learn arduino.

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

Curtis said HVC is 104v. Wondering what config ill do with my 8v gel lead. Im think 10 of them for "80v." Its going to be a pain to find a charger for it. I cant have a diy solution with multiple chargers since we plan on selling it eventually. One worry about the controller is that it doesnt...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

I'm going to move as many batteries to the front seat. Maybe see about fitting some in the nose as well. The plan as of now is this Curtis controller: http://curtisinstruments.com/?fuseaction=Products.home#/product/65 It uses the same wiring harness as the curtis controller on our cars now...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

A+ IDEA Problem with ditching lead is that testing and making a pack with lipo is time consuming, and unsellable to anyone but a nerd like us. Lead is cave man proof. That being said I'll run the thought by my boss. Well at least we can find the limits of our rear ends :twisted...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

Yeah but im not a member of the diy car forum and they arent as sharp as yall. We cant move all the batteries to the front and get massive voltage with out rearranging the frame. If we go that route we might as well switch to lipo. We aint doing gas. With the leaf setup what sort of voltage...

My boss asked me to build a golf cart that can "smoke tires"

I have at my disposal a lot of 8v 250ah lead gel batteries, 7kw brushed motors, and one stretch golf cart frame with plenty of room for batteries (twice as much as a standard cart) My boss wants to build a marketing car. One we can take to shows and hold the brake and gas down and make some...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

Awesome to read ya'lls more educated responses on the abrasive topic. I have another question. Would this be usable on golf cart motors? This could be another market. I don't think it'd be a good idea on brushed motors, but the RXV and IQ models use brushless motors. Heating can be a problem...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

There is nothing wrong with skepticism. Lets talk about my concerns rather than side tracking the discussion. IIRC Justin has been recommending to his customers that have corrosion problem to drill the side covers to let the moisture out when it heats. Any moisture in a hot motor will be gone...

Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motors

Hhere is my contention with this idea that I haven't seen anyone address. Is it abrasive? Will it rub the magnets or stator down? Because if anything magnetic gets in the FF, it's staying in there and that would be bad news. Does it break down over time into something...

"Plus sized tires", 2.8-3.2 inch wide

The increasing sizes in tires is great news for us. Fat tires are what we want for better, safer rides. Last time I did the math for using moped tires and wheels the setup ended up weighing more than the bike sans electric drive train. Bicycle components are much lighter.

    13s 14s 16s 48v battery what is optimal?

I'd buy the aliexpress one linked above. That way when it breaks in 3 months you won't be out too much money. Pretty cheap lesson IMO.

    13s 14s 16s 48v battery what is optimal?

14s lipo is way more fun than a 16s ping. 8 4s5ah packs and 4 6s5ah packs is like $260. Bitch to wire up and keep maintained but not much harder than 12s. Still, plan to spend about $500 after wiring, chargers, and other lipo costs. Another benefit of 14s is that you can use lower voltage...
