    Would this work?

Thanks, Now going with a rear motor, what suggestions? I will probably go with the 48V 20AH V2.5 LiFePO4 Battery Pack and upgrade the charger to 5A and also upgrade to high rate BMS. or would I be ok with stock? Basically I am looking for advice on a good set up with this, but don't want to go...

    Would this work?

Instead of the DB I saw this on CL, but I was referred to a Trek 820 but what about 3700. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2007/archive/3700# I know I have to add 2 torque arms. Would the fork that is on it be ok? http://images.craigslist.org/3ne3m13p75V15P45S2a9r8a20983c30c71cc3.jpg...

    Would this work?

What bikes would you recommend or should I just change the fork on the bike to surley or any bike for that matter. I guess this is my main frustration is the bike itself. I mean between the kit and batteries you are already looking at 1000.00 plus. So do I need a 1000.00 plus bike as well... if...

    Would this work?

Well to be honest if you know nothing about this and limited income, I don't think this should be something that is for me. I was thinking of spending the 1500.00 for the kit. Now I am second guessing this project. I guess I would have to do more research on this to actually be sold on it. I...

    Would this work?

Well this is getting more complicated than I wanted. Now I feel I am waisting my time and soon to be money on this. All I wanted was something that could take me about for a few hours with light peddling and to help my knee and loose some weight, and most of just to get out and about. Well...

    Would this work?

Thanks icecube57, I would use double torque arms on any bike I plan to build. I am new to all this and trying to figure it all out. I am not looking to spend LOADS of money considering this will be my first and I am mostly going to be using it for therapy on my knee, along with everyday...

    Would this work?

Hey all, I just received a DB (Derby) Diamondback Topanga and was wondering if this would work to convert into a front hub. It's all steel so the magnet tells me. I found out it is from mid 1980's to early 1990's (so the guy told me at the company). Looking for ideas also if I may just be...

Thank you Bill, Which Surly fork would I be looking for, I see about 40 of them just doing a quick google. Would any of them work (from most expensive down to the dirt cheap ones), what should I look for when replacing anything on the Trek 820? Thanks again, Steve

Thank you everyone not only for the information but the support. I take each persons ideas into consideration. Each comment brings me so much closer to understanding what I will be looking at and getting my self into. :D So far I think the set up I am looking at is the C9 2807 front, the 48V...

Again thanks dogman, I have a question, I know because of my size you have been leaning me towards the c9 which I dont mind at all. I am not concerned to much with being pulled over here in WI they don't pay much attention to bicyclist lol. but I was wondering what about...

    Winter Riding, keeping warm.

Couldn't you just stitch some type of waterproof canvas on the outside with it connecting to an insulated cloth on the inside? figure it couldnt be to difficult. I am new at this, but I know foam is a good insulator. Referring to top picture.

StudEbiker thanks for the advice. Your right about maybe dropping down to the 20ah. I am just starting, and also that will remind me I have to work too on those long day out. lol Also appreciate the words of wisdom about the recharge if they sit (which I hope and pray they don't ;) ) I was...

Noob plan, just want to make sure. Thanks

Hello itchynackers, I will need something I can charge on the go. There are going to be many times it will be an all day adventure. All the sites will be much nicer on a bike versus a car :D . So I know there will be many times I will loose track of time. lol

Thanks torker, I appreciate your input, but have no idea when you said "using saggy sla so in a 26" rim" lol  new to all this yet. Need to treat me as a 2 year old when discussing this. Still at the early development stage yet. :D Steve

Noob plan, just want to make sure. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome FMB42, Yes I have my knee brace and most definitely will have head protection. People in WI don't seem to notice bike riders around here. Will have lights and all safety features for the bike before it will be taken out. :D Thanks, Steve

Wow, dogman Thanks. Yeah I have noticed the 100 mile was a huge reach now. I see I was dreaming like most noob doing this. I think no that I have a little insight I can be more realistic with something. I do like the idea of a front to start make it easy for me to learn the trade I guess. I...

    Newbie needs help with information

Eujangles, Thank you for a quick reply. Yeah I thought it would be a little radical for the 100 miles. I was just figuring a way where I wont have a 15 mile restriction and if I wanted to be out all day I could. Thanks on the front or rear. I thought I would have more traction on the rear but I...
