    Buick Lacrosse 2012 e-assist moto-alternator

Have someone found an controller working of the shelf with lacrosse motor? What about Kelly Jaguar seriesKAC-N? They are not particularly strong or high V (96V280A or 84V400A, on their site) but are not expensive, accept resolver and manage 250Hz (in attached paper at least) Jaguar...

    Controller or wheel damaged ?

You may have caused damage to the mosfet before modifying shunt, or as mentioned before, ESD damage while working on the shunt. What motor and turn count, other specs you got? What is the wheel diameter? Your wheel combo may have been wrong for the controller you got, hammering it to dead.

    Yeah. Looks like shorted MOSFET.

    Controller or wheel damaged ?

Disconnect Motor phase wires from the controller and spin the wheel. Is there resistance on the wheel? If yes, you have a short in the windings or phase wires of the wheel. If not, move the phase wires a little while spinning the wheel, it still can be a intermittent phase wire short circuit...

JP spot-welder, FET-switched, timed adj. pulse

Nice. What kind of current are you seeing? P.S. There are much better mosfets for Pulsed Drain Current, mostly surface mount.

    Copper strips instead of nickel?

All depends on your application, but considering same cross-section copper conductor will be 1/4 of nickel conduction loses. On paper copper is the winner. Here comes "but", nickel has many advantages if you can bare with conduction loses, it is easier to spot-weld, does not oxidize easily and...

    PV NextGen FOC 100-180v 36kw max - $799

Cool, I didn't know Axiom is working on VESC and MTPA seems to be next evolution step, for IPM at least. Thanks! I have 2 spare ACIM motors on the shelf right now, but will look around for IPM to.

    PV NextGen FOC 100-180v 36kw max - $799

Can you recommend some IPM motor that can take 25KW and works well with your controller? (I suppose it works with backwards "field weakening" logic of IPM) Thanks, in my understanding, when/if vesk gets full closed loop support to ACIM, you can include it in a update. Right?

    PV NextGen FOC 100-180v 36kw max - $799

Are there plans for this controller running ACIM algorithms and taking sine cosine resolver or encoder input?

    Copper strips instead of nickel?

Nickel is 24% of copper conductivity, which means ~4 times more losses compared to copper conductor. https://www.avoutlet.com/images/product/additional/f/iacs_of_metals_n_solder.pdf

Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

Do not go over 12v, start with 2 packs in parallel, those are 120A max cells, so you end up with 960A capable pack. Limitation will be the nickel connectors. P. S. If those are cut 36v medical packs, filter out the block with the fuse weakened tab.

Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev!

"Technical support service", aditional payment I did in some cases to get under my taxation limit. But yeah, the only thing is package that gets lost, which happens by FedEx. (1 out of several dozens of packs, in my case. I believe, most of those got back to the seller after few months)

Also, many asynchronous motors with sin/cosin encoder are sitting on the shelves. Ex. Buick LaCrosse 2nd gen BAS hybrid alternator/motor, 25hp (15hp rated) , can be purchased from 80usd and no controller (reasonable size, cost) on the market.

18650 spot welding -how to- ULTIMATE REPOSITORY

What I mean is, his thermal camera reading have no value if they show 626F nickel melting temperature. Be careful with fuse wire material, Tesla uses some special fuse material, which has high electrical conductivity, low melting temp and low heat conductivity. Because of those qualities and...

18650 spot welding -how to- ULTIMATE REPOSITORY

Nice video. My concerns rises a nickel fuse that is glowing white and liquefying at polycarbonate (plastic) melting temperature instead of seeing 2500f heat spots. V loss also seems totally wrong. As fuse maybe. Do not forget, loses will grow exponentially, at 6A you will deal with 0.042V droop...

18650 spot welding -how to- ULTIMATE REPOSITORY

Not that much of acceptable, here we have a "nickel" fuse link that must heat up to 1500C to blow, OP is calculating nice cool conductor. It is acceptable as fuse link (a would prefer Zink with low melting point<500C), remember, it is made to fuse high resistance modem cells with 1C discharge...

18650 spot welding -how to- ULTIMATE REPOSITORY

I assume, they where behind the 8A instant blow value and considering nickel, which is not the best fusing material, with its high melting temperature, all ended at this low cross-section. Assuming: Nickel 1mm2 R at 20C =edit68Ohm/1000m Link cross-section =0.2mm2 Link length =20mm Current =3A...

    Sevcon Gen4 fault

Zero resistance is a blown Fet. It is probably 1 blown in parallel aray but it is difficult to identify without desoldering, unless it is physically damaged. It is also a good habit to change the whole parallel group as the rest could take some damage to and Fets should be matched as well. Said...

Modifying a shunt with controlled results

Why do you need a switch? If you remove or cut 1 shunt it will half the power and not affect speed or anything else. Try to take 1 out and see how it works, you may find bigger issue though, something called "block time", its some short time span with little to no current limiting, used to get...
