Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

heyDD- It sounds like a button or perhaps condensation problem that is causing phantom button pushes. In particular, holding the left button depressed on boot sends control directly to Setup - you primary symptom. Buttons not working is likely because one or more is stuck ON. Carefully...

New media embed option for our forum - edit: it's broken

Here's what your posts in this thread look like on my mobile devices using Opera or Chrome. Pretty much broken...

    Battery disconnect switch

Okay - added some notes and a more detailed illustration above. There are precharge calculators on line if you happen to know the cap values in your controller...

    Battery disconnect switch

What he said ^^^^^^ Here's a simple hookup that just uses a mix of one an two pin connectors. Easy with either Anderson PP or RC bullets. With a little heat shrink sleeving it just looks like a short Y on each side. 20-22ga is more than adequate for the precharge wire - the size is more to...

    DIY electric hand cargo trailer

I originally proposed using the hubmotor because of the fabrication simplification and the ease of upgrade - just buy a more powerful motor and bolt it up. The dropout mounts and brake disc offset are standard so no/few issues regarding interchangeability. A consideration will be the size...

Sempu BB + cycle analyst assist not working well

The grossy asymmetric Sempu waveform in combination with the high pole count has been found to cause certain CA 3.1+ PAS difficulties. This isn't directly related to the odd pulse timing your post illustrates, but it's another Sempu weirdness. This issue has been addressed and will be released...

    DIY electric hand cargo trailer

Just a question of getting front wheels from a bigger motorcycle instead of a moped. Box the wheel with an outer strut to carry the other side of the stock motorcycle front axle and things get simpler. Likely needing brakes on the side wheels is an unfortunate complication, otherwise common...

Trek report on becoming more visible (for electric velomobile)

Improved visibility has only do with knees, feet, and pedaling in that they provide points of visual complexity and change for others. Tying lighting to pedal motion misses the underlying cause of the Trek observation and suffers from the rate dependence you point out. If you want to get...

    CA3 3 position switch

I don't understand the references to resistors and the throttle connections... The other stuff looks ok. Here's how to hook up the 3-pos switch using the colors you report:

    DIY electric hand cargo trailer

Chalo has lots of experience with pedicabs and could steer you to rugged wheels/tires for things in this capacity of the bicycle type, but for a scratch build I would lean to moped tires and matching wheels for the two primary wheels since weight is not an issue (puncture resistance). Fat bike...

Mac 12T and dual torque arms -> really necessary ?

Basically what neppy said above - two would be the best situation... But - regardless of voltage, your 20A controller is probably only going to provide 50 phase amps which is not really driving the Mac hard so you don't have an especially bad torque situation just because it's geared. If you...

Cycle Analyst V2 - Menu on startup

This could simply be a failed button assembly with the left button stuck ON. Remove the four screws from the back of the case and carefully open it. Unplug the button ribbon cable from the circuit board. Now try powering up the CA to check if it boots properly. If this works, a replacement...

Beware of IMR Batteries - www.imrbatteries.com

 Not only can I read it just fine, but I actually understand it - their policy regarding delivery is quite plain: You were not ripped off but you are possessed with some need to blame someone. Sometimes everyone does their best, but stuff happens anyway and no one is to blame (shocking...

Beware of IMR Batteries - www.imrbatteries.com

It's always distressing to see someone become a member of ES because of a sudden burst of 'Public Service' to warn others (aka 'throw a tantrum', 'get even', 'damage business') with a post that will live on for years to come. You requested special delivery handling directly with the carrier...

    CA3 3 position switch

From section "5.6 Auxiliary Pot" of the Unofficial Users Guide (page 38): Unfortunately, your wire color description does not match the posted "7-wire" photo... So - two answers: By the photo: from the throttle "3-Gears Public Wire": red -> CA-5V grn -> CA-POT blk -> CA-Gnd By your...

Fabricating a curved side battery box?

See: 18650 battery pack build Kepler style Order 5052 aluminum strips cut to width at OnlineMetals.com. Hand-form using available pipe or round objects as jigs. Use epoxy or pop rivets to join strip splice(s) with small extra piece as lap joint. Fab sides using material of your choice.

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

hey eem29! In case you're not getting PM notifications, I sent you an alpha version of 3.13 to try. This should fix the problem you uncovered and a bunch of other minor bugs. Post back with results. :)

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

So - I'm guessing this means a 14 cell battery that you partially charged to about 92%? Sort of meaningless without knowing the actual capacity in Ah. Sorry, but you never actually described the issue. This value is too high? Too low?

    Best rear torque arm design/layout?

Perhaps something similar to this using simpler geometries and keeping the lines parallel to the existing frame where possible for cosmetics. Big Blue Saw is popular in the US - they might be worth a look... (I've never used them myself, but...)

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Well two things: You have a configuration issue: Set your throttle mode to PassThru and all will work fine. By setting throttle mode to Speed the throttle is suppressing all PAS output when the throttle is ZEROed as the CA tries to make the speed zero. If you had opened the throttle while...

Power Oscillations / Hunting at higher speeds

Whoa - that's amazingly strange! The sensorless vs sensored mode does explain why the throttle Bypass mode test seemed to indicate the CA - the motor was in sensorless mode at your 'full power' test condition. I'll be interested to hear the details from JLE - certainly a weird one. Thanks for...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

There is no such limit. Here are the default values for 3.1 - your observed limit is not in play: The Absolute Power Limit and other limits are controlled in the OEM settings. I suspect that you have either altered these or your EEPROM has some corruption that is affecting these values...

Power Oscillations / Hunting at higher speeds

Ok - thanks for the clarifications. Depends. Try the CA-only reset, but re-flash is absolute. I recommend that you get a cable. New software is always coming along... (There are new beta releases on the horizon!) :D
