Bafang BBS02 overshooting/surging power, any fix?

I did notice this information on an electric bike blog: 'Slow-Start Mode(1-8): 3\4\5\6\4 -Controls how quickly the power ramps and how much it overshoots. If this variable is set too high the PAS start will be jerky, if set too low you risk blowing the controller as with Start Current above. If...

Bafang BBS02 overshooting/surging power, any fix?

Basically, my BBS02 tends to overshoot the power on hills in the lower PAS modes. This is creating a surging effect, where it will apply the power to keep the motor running a certain speed, but applies too much, then settles, then surges again. Not the end of the world, but are there any tweaks...

    Bafang BBSHD 52v 1000w 28a Controller?

Yeah, I guessed that once the firmware is flashed to limit the max amps, then the programming cable and software won't let the user raise it above that. But were you able to change all the other parameters ginekolog?

    Bafang BBSHD 52v 1000w 28a Controller?

Ok, I'm assuming not many peeps are running and programming these 52v 28a controllers, by the lack of replies. Just one more question, which hopefully someone knows the answer to. Are these 52v 28a controllers officially leaving the Bafang factory with the different firmware, or are vendors...

    Bafang BBSHD 52v 1000w 28a Controller?

Thanks for the reply amberwolf. I'm not too fussed if these suspected new controllers may be firmware capped at 28 amps. I'm just wondering if they can stll talk with the regular Bafang programming software via the usual cable, so that the LVC can be changed? Has anyone used a programming cable...

    Bafang BBSHD 52v 1000w 28a Controller?

I'm seeing vendors selling Bafang BBSHD 52v 1000w 28a replacement controllers. Are these just a misrepresentation of the regular BBSHD 48v 1000w 30a controllers, or actually a new controller from Bafang?

Can't Get #@!!@ Tire On Rim

If it's any consolation, I find my wired Schwalbe Marathon GT 365's to be a pain to fit. My trick is to seat a section of the tyre into the beading groove and cable tie the tyre tightly against the rim. Then I use a strong plastic tyre lever to feed the wired section into the groove as I move...

Why do the BBSHD, BBSO2, etc rotate upward against the downtube when they loosen?

Whilst we're on the subject of the BBS series of motors rotating, I thought I'd just add some pointers for anyone fitting one of these kits for the first time. As the OP states, the motor units will attempt to rotate during use, which DogDipstick explains the reason for doing so very nicely...

    Worn Out Lekkie Bling Ring??

Oh man, I think we've all been there. Big time dismantle something to repair, only to find out it was a simple 5 minute job all along, staring you right in the face

    Worn Out Lekkie Bling Ring??

Why not compare your chainring with the profile of a new one. If it looks wildly sawtoothed, then assume that you will have drivetrain problems, and time for a new chainring.

    Bbso1

Probably. You will need a programming cable and software to read your controller settings!

    Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

Yes, shouldn't cause any problems. The trick with the BBSxx series of motors, is to make sure you are in the correct gear. Always start off in a low gear and use a low gear on hills, even if it means you end up ghost pedalling. The motor is happy when it is spinning fast! A 42T Lekkie Bling...

    EM3EV's battery with smart BMS

As I haven't got the adjustable charger, can I assume that if I switched off charging at 80% manually, the BMS would have managed to balance cells from 50% to 80% ok? Also, what would constitute as an unacceptable difference in voltage between cells 1%, 2% etc...?

    EM3EV's battery with smart BMS

I recently bought one of Paul's super shark batteries, fitted with a smart BMS. Excellent battery BTW, for anyone searching for their next pack. I have the 2A charger, which charges to 100%. I have one question, which I didn't want to pester Paul with, as he is a busy chap. Does a smart BMS...

Bafang BBSxx programming software and 32/64 bit Windows?

I have no problems running the Bafang BBSxx programming software on Windows 10 32 bit, but a friend is having problems connecting on Windows 7 64 bit. His comes up with 'error opening serial port'. He reckons it's something to do with his operating system being 64 bit, but I'm not convinced this...

Best solder for shortening cables? (PAS, Motor etc)

As a beginner to soldering, I would personally use a leaded 60/40 (60% tin, 40% lead) rosin core solder. It's easier to work with and a little more forgiving until you get the knack of soldering. I personally use Stannol HS10 (60/40) rosin core solder (0.5mm)

    Anyone else have a 14s4p 30Q pack?

Not entirely the same, but a 13s4p 30Q on a BBS02 running 25A max. Roughly about the same as you, before my display flashes to head home. By then performance has dropped, so I wouldn't want to push it any more. Never hit the battery LVC though.

Help sourcing the correct BBS02 final drive assembly

I need to replace my BBS02 48v 750w final drive and am aware that Bafang have changed the BBS02 design over the years. I've spotted this on Green Bike Kit, but am not sure whether mine is a version 'B' or original...
