Discussions aren't the same quality without Chalo

But "taking more than he gives" is not trolling. Lots of people take more than they give here (i.e. newbies.) Trolls are people who post intentionally inflammatory, incorrect or libelous material intentionally to make people angry, and I don't think he was doing that. He had some strong...

    Invention idea

One that has saved (and extended) a lot of lives. But it's your (and your wife's) choice, of course.

It sure seemed like he was trying to get banned towards the end. But people change.

Best Value fast ebike for my commute?

That's doable - but it is going to be hard to do it for less than $3000 unless you do most of the work yourself. 30mph average is going to take a LOT of energy, which means a large battery, which means $$. You could do the rest of the bike for around $1000 (BBS-HD or 2-3kW hub) but you are...

    fast charging through phaserunner

I would not design something that would overcharge a battery if you forget. Also, you need a device to generate the pilot signal so the J1772 will power up, like this: https://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=107&osCsid=cd4b1on6f8ri7o1g6i1787i400 And of course the...

    fast charging through phaserunner

Yikes, a lot to go through here. Yes, it can work. (We designed a charger for one of the early Ford EV projects using that system.) How it works is that you use one of the motor windings as the inductor in a buck converter. Since the current through the winding is sorta kinda like the...

    Speed limit 25km

OK, so the work will be untraceable but you can be convicted. Fair enough.

    Speed limit 25km

Undetectable? No. Untraceable? Yes. Unless you sign your work, no one is going to be able to figure out who worked on the bike.

BMS with optional Bottom and/or Top Balancing

Agreed. Relying on a BMS (or a buzzer) to stop a charge or a discharge is a bad, bad idea. Lithium ion batteries can go up in flames quite easily; have at least two methods of preventing overcharge and overdischarge (like a working BMS and a voltage limited charger.)

2 Large, identical battery packs in series? POSSIBLE?

No, series. When they are in series, whatever discharge current one sees, the other will see. By definition. Two batteries in series will see exactly the same current - but voltage will not be forced to be the same. Two batteries in parallel will see exactly the same voltage - but current...

2 Large, identical battery packs in series? POSSIBLE?

Just a note - if you have two of the same type packs in series you get an automatic guarantee that they are discharged at the same rate. Internal resistance doesn't matter.

Neither. He's playing the "redefine words to win the argument" game. It's a popular game to play when you are losing an argument. "Well, it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is."

    Trolling Motor Woes

Not specifically. I'd go with the cheapest diodes that: 1) meet the current rating 2) have the right forward voltage loss. Usually they are around .5 to .7 volts. Don't forget the switch to bypass them once you start drawing significant power, otherwise you will drop a lot of power across...

    Trolling Motor Woes

I am suspicious: " If you use the pulsed DC power provided by the generator, please filter it with capacitor before connecting it to the converter." Sounds like an unfiltered converter. You'd need a pretty large cap and the converter might not work with 16V since it is designed for 24V.

BMS with optional Bottom and/or Top Balancing

Uh - no. He had a comment. That's what forums are for. However, if comments in a thread you start will make you sad and upset, I agree that it's best to not post on forums.

The trend of cities banning cars

Yep. And that's true of some US cities as well. Boston was built for cows, not cars, and has endless problems with traffic. But Phoenix, which has seen most of its expansion after 1950, was designed with cars in mind.

Which hybrid electric car will be yours in the future?

I recently got a Prius Prime and it's been great. The battery (8kwhr) just about covers my commute, which is 90% of my driving. My average MPG is over 199 (that's as high as the gauge goes) and I go to the gas station about twice a year.

    Trolling Motor Woes

Yep, and 16V is a very common max voltage for electrolytic caps, and a common "abs max" for higher voltage IC's. So bringing that 16.8V down to 15V might get you over the hump.

Grid Tie Solar inverter hybrid 48vdc UL or CSA

I will add if UL, CEC etc approval is not necessary there are a lot of options. The Victron EasySolar line and Voltronic InfiniSolar V both meet his input voltage requirements for example - but are not really installable in the US. Not sure about Canada.

Motortrend article with tons of info about Tesla’s Cybertruck

WOW! 62 used Teslas being sold out of 921,446! Why, that's almost .007% of sales, and indicates that, at best, 99.93% of customers are happy. That is a HUGE problem! Tesla is DOOMED! Too bad more people don't recognize your brilliance and immediately sell their Teslas.

    Trolling Motor Woes

Something like that. Heatsinking would be minimal because you would switch them out of the circuit very quickly. New those diodes are $1.80 at Digikey, but you could use any diodes (like the rectifiers from an old switchmode power supply.) Keep in mind that there may be an actual reason they...
